Damn. Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn. Very few people made as big an impact as a writer for me. Dwayne’s skill with a phrase and his awesome comedic talent put him in the top two percent of comics writers, and really writers in general. This is a horrible loss.

To repeat what i said at PAD’s blog:

    Just Shit.
Never met him in person, but we exchanged some e-mails a few years back, when he wrote to (quite gently) correct something stupid (well, ignorant) i’d said online about Damage Control.
From that and from what people who actually knew him have said, he was a Class Act.
And forty-nine? Cheeze – that’s too soon for anyone to have to leave the party.

I had long admired Dwayne McDuffie as a writer. But it was a series that Michael Davis did for ComicMix back in 2008, “If You’re Not There You Just Won’t Get It, that made me really come to admire the man. For that I’m grateful to the MOTU. My condolences to Mr. McDuffie’s family and friends. Dwayne McDuffie’s death is a great loss.
