Given how much ass both Optimuses can kick (go watch the battle at Autobot City from the '86 movie and most of just about any fight Bay Prime is in in ROTF) and there's no contest. Primes win. (And don't talk to me about Prime's habit of getting killed in just about every universe; he always comes back, doesn't he? :P)

Primes win because that's how it works. It works so well that every time Megatron wins and kills Prime, he comes back to life later. I believe he died and came back twice time in the Marvel comics, one and a half times in the G1 cartoon, was comatose for an extended period in both Dreamwave and IDW comics, and I'm pretty sure he drifted in space unconscious for a while between Armada and Energon, among others...

Megatron has only been killed and resurrected once, in the Bayniverse, though whether he was actually dead at the end of Armada and the beginning of Energon is debatable. Also, I think I might be the first to use the word "Bayniverse."

Prime wins for being Robot Jesus.

I will break rank and say that Megatron wins it cause Robot Jesus takes time to come back... and this is one fight, not a war. The new Megatron as a tank looks impressive in the pictures I've seen here and there.... And I personally wasn't impressed with Movie Prime from the first outing. I mean... he doesn't even get the cool trailer.

I believe Prime also returned in Beast Wars, did he not? Or am I getting the shows mixed up?

And please, be correct...Megatron didn't change into "a gun", He changed into a mother-lovin' U.N.C.L.E. Special, save for the extended magazine.

Duely noted Vinnie. Prime was in Beast Wars, but not as the Prime we know and love. I believe. Brian's the expert though, I'll ask him.

Well, if you want to get technical about it, Prime didn't actually die in Beast Wars, he was severely damaged when Megatron shot him in the face. That would fall under the comatose category. Though to be fair, he was comatose before that and was still out for several million years even after he was repaired.

To parallel Prime's resurrections, Primal does die at the end of season one, and is resurrected when Rhinox manages to pull his spark back before it rejoined the Well of Allsparks. He also dies at the end of Beast Machines, but does not return.

No no, Primal was definitely NOT Optimus Prime. The characters from beast wars were from WELL after the time of Tramsformers, and both Primal and Megatron took their names in honor of their ancestral leaders.

I looked it up, and I was right, Prime appears in a Beast Wars episode - it's revealed that the planet the Beast wars take place on is Earth in the distant past. They find the Ark, in which the Autobots are in stasis and wake up Prime long enough to help them

Right, Prime's only awake for like 5 seconds after he's repaired, but his spark (with the Matrix) upgrades Primal when he puts it in his chest to keep Prime alive.

Prime wins this battle. Hands down.

Now if it were Galvatron and G2 Megatron, that's a serious battle.

This is a tough call. Prime is the better fighter in my opinion, the only reason Megatron seems to ever one up him is usually due to circumstance. I want to side with the good guys, but if it came down to 2 on 2 I'm going to say advantage Megatron.
