‘Smallville’ Schedules a Break
As Smallville prepares to premiere next week, word from the CW is that there will be a long break between episodes ten and eleven. This is being done for two reasons: one, it provides the network somewhere to run the second season of Reaper, and two, it allows them the opportunity to retool for a ninth season if ratings and casting issues indicate that makes sense.
The eleventh episode is currently scheduled to be the Geoff Johns-penned introduction of the Legion of Super-Heroes.
Look for a season 7 recap next week before the new season kicks off.
Yeah, that's only if the network stays afloat long enough to make it that far into the season.
So far, the only way I've been able to enjoy any episodes of "Smallville" is by thinking of this as yet another reboot of Superman, which may or may not result in the Man of Steel we've all come to know and lovingly kid. The Clark Kent in here seems on course to become Superboy-Prime, or maybe the evil criminal Supes from the Crime Syndicate, rather than the big blue boy scout. However, I may have to start watching again at episode 11 of the new season – they're actually using someone who knows about writing superheroes to script the show… :-)
I kind of like Smallville, for all it faults. My biggest problem is Clark is too passive and relies too much on people to figure things out when he should solve things on his own. He seems pretty unmotivated half the time. Almost lazy. That's not the Superman I know. But I like the cast, and it does get fun at times.
In a way it's like Titanic. You already know what happens at the end.So there are not too many real surprises.
