I only had the idea of Masterson as some Western guy. This is really interesting!

I knew he was a New York sportswriter when he died but i wasn't aware of the Runyon connection; the idea of Bat Masterson being the model for some of Runyon's Broadway characters - perhaps even Sky Masters - tickles my sensayuma, as it probably would have tickled his.

And the Almighty Sensayuma is the entire point, Mike. Masterson seems to have gone about his career with a perpetual smirk.
