Charlotte Geeks’ Joey Paquette asked New Pulp author, Bobby Nash 5 questions and he tried to answer them seriously. Or so he claims. Check out Bobby’s answers here.

Bobby Nash and Sean Taylor with their 2013 Pulp Ark Awards.
For the first time since the Pulp Ark Award winners were announced, Ruby Files co-creators Bobby Nash and Sean Taylor got to hold their Pulp Ark Award for Best New Pulp Character: Rick Ruby at the Free Comic Book day event at galactic Quest Comics in Buford, GA.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Pulp Factory Awards were presented at this year’s Windy City Pulp & Paper Convention.
These awards are given to the best in new pulp fiction and art published during the previous year as voted on by the 111 members of the Pulp Factory; an internet group made up of pulp writers, artists, editors, publishers and dedicated fans.
Writer William Patrick Maynard and artist Rob Davis once again co-hosted the award presentations, handing out the sculptured trophies done in the shape of a quill pen set against factory-like gears.
The pen represents both writers and artists, the gears paying homage to the assembly-line production of the old pulps of the 1930s.
This year’s winners for the best in fiction and art for 2012 were:
For Best Pulp Novel – THE LONE RANGER – VENDETTA by the late Howard Hopkins, published by Moonstone Books.
For Best Pulp Short Story – “The Ghoul” by Ron Fortier from the anthology, “Monster Aces,” published by Pro Se Productions.
For Best Pulp Cover – Joe Devito for THE INFERNAL BUDDHA published Altus Press.
For Best Interior Illustrations – Rob Moran for THE RUBY FILES published by Airship 27 Productions.
This year’s preliminary nominations and final ballot represented a total of twelve New Pulp Fiction publishers.
The Pulp Factory membership congratulates all the winners for their exceptional work.
Author Mark Bousquet interviews New Pulp Author Bobby Nash at Atomic Anxiety. They talk about everything from the writing process, Bobby’s novels, podcasting, those exciting Pulp Ark Award wins for Bobby and The Ruby Files, and much more. There is also an excerpt from Bobby’s story from the award-winning The Ruby Files Vol. 1 you won’t want to miss.
Rick Ruby, the titular character from The Ruby Files was named Best New Pulp Character at the 2013 Pulp Ark Awards. We thought we’d ask some of the creators and readers what makes Rick Ruby special to them.
Airship 27 Productions announced that The Ruby Files Vol. 1 is now available on Kindle. The recently announced 2013 Pulp Ark Award Winner for Best New Character is now available in paperback and ebook formats to meet your pulpy two-fisted crime thriller needs.
It was the 1930s and America was locked in the grip of the Great Depression. Gangsters controlled the major cities while outlaws roamed the rural back country. It was a time of Speak Easy gin-joints, Tommy-guns, fast cars and even faster dames. This is the world of New York based Private Investigator Rick Ruby, a world he is all too familiar with. From the back alleys of Gotham to the gold laden boulevards of Hollywood, Ruby is the shamus with a nose for trouble and an insatiable appetite for justice. So if you’ve got a taste for hot lead and knuckle sandwiches, tug your cuffs, adjust your fedora and light up a Lucky, a brand new pulp detective is coming your way.
Created by pulp masters, Bobby Nash and Sean Taylor, Rick Ruby echoes the tales of Sam Spade and Philip Marlowe while offering up his own brand of two-fisted action. Joined by fellow pulp smiths Andrew Salmon and William Patrick Maynard, these modern scribes of purple prose present a quartet of tales to delight any true lover of private eye fiction.
AIRSHIP 27 PRODUCTIONS – PULP FICTION FOR A NEW GENERATION!
New Pulp Publisher Airship 27 Productions has announced that Pulp Ark and Pulp Factory award nominated cover artist, Mark Wheatley will return as cover artist for the forthcoming The Ruby Files vol. 2.
Press Release:
Mark Wheatley, who crafted the beautiful cover for The Ruby Files vol. 1 has signed on to contribute a cover for the upcoming The Ruby Files vol. 2.
After announcing the news, Airship 27 publisher, Ron Fortier told All Pulp that, “Mark’s gorgeous cover on volume one has deservedly been nominated for the Pulp Factory Award for Best Pulp Cover of 2012. So you can image how thrilled and honored we are at having him on board for this new book. He’s one of the most admired artist in the field today.”
Ruby Files co-creator, Sean Taylor also commented, “When I heard Mark Wheatley was back on board for another cover, I couldn’t believe it,” Taylor said. “I mean, let’s be honest, the stories may have really driven the book home for the first collection but what really, really attracted readers to the book in the first place was Mark’s cover. We couldn’t ask for better. Period.”
And Ruby Files co-creator, Bobby Nash added, “I’m thrilled to have Mark return to The Ruby Files. The cover to vol. 1 is great and really helped push the sales of the book. It’s a beautiful piece of art.”
On returning to The Ruby Files, Wheatley told All Pulp, “I’m looking forward to being inspired by more lurid, irresponsible, titillating, pulp-pounding action!”
The Ruby Files vol. 2 is coming soon from Airship 27 Productions with stories by Sean Taylor, Alan J. Porter, Ron Fortier, and Bobby Nash. Interior illustrations provided by Nick Poliwko under a cover by Mark Wheatley. Rob Davis returns as book designer.
