EZ Street To Sneak-Peek At San Diego…

EZ Street To Sneak-Peek At San Diego…

Our pals Mark Wheatley and Robert Tinnell will be at the good so’ San DIego Comic thing this week – booth 2308 – where they’ll be showing off their latest project, EZ Street.

In addition to his comics work, Robert, of course, is the writer and/or director of such movies as Frankenstein and Me, Kids of the Round Table, and Believe; he also produced the classic Surf Nazis Must Die! Bob also wrote the column on autism for ComicMix last month that generated so much comment. Mark is the man (or at least a man, when he’s standing next to Marc Hempel) behind Mars, Breathtaker, Tarzan, Frankenstein Mobster, and all sorts of other cool stuff. He’s got a new sketchbook called Handmaid debuting at SDCC.

Together, Bob and Mark are doing an on-line comic strip The Mighty Motor-Sapiens at the NASCAR fan site – it’s in collaboration with Daniel Krall and Craig Taillefer. It starts August 6th.

And we’ll tell you all about EZ Street right here at ComicMix.com… when the time is right.

The FIRST ComicMix VIDEO Podcast!

Well, we said we’d do it, and we’re good for our word!

The very first ComicMix Video Podcast us up and available for you right now! We videotaped the ComicMix panel at the Pittsburgh Comicon – GrimJack artist Timothy Truman, Jon Sable Freelance writer/artist Mike Grell, filmmaker and EZ Street writer Robert Tinnell, Munden’s Bar artist Chris Burnham, and ComicMix E.I.C. Mike Gold. In this first installment, we focus on the two Mikes: Gold’s massive floating head reveals important clues about our future, and Grell sings a cappella. You won’t believe your eyes!

Pittsburgh -– Get READY!

Pittsburgh -– Get READY!

If you’re going to be at this weekend’s Pittsburgh Comicon, you’ll be seeing a lot of folks wearing ComicMix t-shirts and such. That’s because a whole lot of us are going to be there – Timothy Truman, Mike Grell, Robert Tinnell, Martha Thomases, Mike Raub (podcasting and videotaping, no less), Kai Connelly, Chris Burnham, and yours truly.

Many of us will be on a panel together on Saturday at 1:00 – ask us about the new GrimJack and Jon Sable Freelance projects, badger us about Phase 2. No doubt Mr. Raub will try to stick a microphone in your face at some point; he’s a broadcaster so he can’t help himself. Timothy, Mike, and Chris will also have tables in Artist’s Alley.

We hope to see you this weekend at the Pittsburgh Comicon. For more information, click here.

The great thing about suddenly being inundated with folks sending in introductions and announcement is all the cool stuff you find in the process!  Let’s get to the pass-alongs then, shall we?

  • Not only do the folks at Bonus.com have their own webcomic (The Paranormals, written by Mr. Raven Brown and drawn by Ronnie Werner), but visitors can try their hand at creating their own comics and avatars.  Time-sucker alert!
  • Congratulations to Robert Tinnell and Bo Hampton, whose graphic novel Sight Unseen (Bo’s first in eight years) tied in the voting for best horror comic/graphic novel for 2006 at Rue Morgue Magazine!
  • Richard Schenkman invites us to check out his current project, Jerome Bixby’s Man From Earth.  Neat website and intriguing plotline – I love me those immortal William Katts!
