Tonight: Drinky The Crow!

Tonight: Drinky The Crow!

Tony Millionaire has made it to television.

The creator of Sock Monkey, Billy Hazelnuts and Uncle Gabby previously known as Scott Richardson has leased his Drinky Crow character to Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, which, evidently, is in need of more jokes about vomit and poop. Drinky the alcoholic crow appears in Maakies, Millionaire’s weekly strip syndicated to "what-to-do-this-weekend" papers all over the country.

The pilot goes up tonight and is available on the Adult Swim website. After that, Cartoon Network is going to think it over.

Sci-Fi starts anime Mondays

Sci-Fi starts anime Mondays

According to Broadcasting & Cable magazine, the Sci Fi Channel will be launching a two-hour anime block on Monday nights starting on June 11 from 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM. Yep, that’s right up mear-daily against Adult Swim’s manga block.

The cable channel owned by NBC Universal will be turning to Starz Media’s Manga Entertainment. The schedule has yet to be set in stone, but they’ll be kicking off with Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society, and airing Noein, Tokko, and Macross Plus for at least the following two weeks.

Unless they change their minds.

Harvey Birdman Gets Comic

Harvey Birdman Gets Comic

The third season of Adult Swim’s Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law will be released as a two-disc DVD set on July 24, 2007.  Included in the package is a comic book about The Origin of the X Eliminator.

The show stars Gary Cole (The West Wing, Family Guy, American Gothic) as the superhero-turned-inept lawyer and Stephen Colbert as both his boss and as the arch-villain, prosecutor Myron Reducto, and Lewis Black as the Deadly Duplicator.

Adult Swim announced last week that Harvey Birdman has been picked up for another season.

Spider-Man, Heroes, and Free Comics… Oh My!

Spider-Man, Heroes, and Free Comics… Oh My!

If there ever was a best week ever in Pop Culture, this is it! Spider-Man 3 is moments away from opening, Heroes is heating up and Free Comic Book Day rolls in on the weekend!

The ComicMix Big Broadcast for Tuesday starts out with a full shopping kist of comics and DVDs you can’t miss, ranging from the end of 52 to the Best Of Fletch – plus news on Magneto on the big screen, Adult Swim expanding on the small screen and Scarface in the comics. We also trip back in time to when Jed Clampett was a private eye!

Please note: The Heroes review contains spoilers. It comes at the end of the podcast, so if you TiVo’ed it, you might want to bail at the sound of Matt’s voice.

Star Wars gets Chicken

Star Wars gets Chicken

In a few weeks… in a galaxy not so far away!

The force is with Seth Green and Matthew Senriech, the creators of the stop action animation parody show Robot Chicken.  They are celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars (30 years??) with a special Robot Chicken episode that will feature the voices of the galactic creator, Mr. George Lucas as himself and the one and only one-armed, Darth’s son, Leia’s brother, x-wing fighter pilot, Yoda-taught Jedi played by Mark Hamill. Hamill is no stranger to the Robot Chicken voice team.

Listen carefully and you will be able to pick out other celebrity voices that I won’t tell you. Here’s a clue: Late Night with Scrubs at the ER with a Hero-ic Ape dancing with the stars. Bye Bye Bye

It’s too early to set your TiVo for this one.  The episode will air on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block at 10:00 pm on Sunday, June 17.
