Meanwhile, Disney is trying to figure out a way to tie things in. Some Ozymadias/ScroogeMcDuck crossover, I suppose. Or Donald Ducktor Manhattan, he’s already not wearing pants…
WHY (bonk!) IS (bonk!) THIS (bonk!) MOVIE (bonk!) RATED (bonk!) R!? Is the nudity realy neccessary for a superhero movie? Whoever put nudity in Watchmen is OUT OF THEIR MINDS!!!! The violence I understand, BUT WHY NUDITY!!!??? If anybody has a good excuse for Dr Manhattan being NUDE or anybody else being NUDE, please reply!
You gotta be f*cking kidding. Did you even read the book?? Watchmen was groundbreaking at the time, and it had quite a bit of nudity. Because, if you're an omnipotent, sentient force of energy, do you really care about wearing pants? It's actually relevant to the story, and you'd know that if you weren't a moron.
Hey pal, I'm no moron! I'm a decent human being that has better things to do than call other people names because they had a rough childhood, were picked on a lot at school, and ended up picking up a hobby of calling other people names just for the heck of it okay? I'm just expressing my opinion! Sheesh!
And yes, I DID read the book. I'm trying to be nice about it, and I guess that last comment didn't help, so let's start over. Was Dr. Mahattan trying to pick up ladies with his "fun box", or did he just feel like committing the crime of indecent exposure?
The simple answer is that Manhattan simply didn't care. It's not like he needed them to feel warm, and no one could force him to wear clothes. Crime? That's like saying that cats have laws that we don't follow. Why should he care?
Silk Spectre has a "fun box;" I prefer to think of Dr. Manhattan as being equipped with blue "wedding day tackle." Actually, I saw someone refer to Dr. Manhattan's penis as his "fully exposed Little Dr. Manhattan." That doesn't seem right. How about the nickname, "Dr. Manhattan's Long Island"?The nudity in Watchmen is for two reasons. First it's to graphically illustrate that Dr. Manhattan is no longer human. He no longer feels cold or shame. How much does shame play into our sense of right and wrong? If you lack a sense of shame, do you also lack a conscience?Think about it. It wasn't until after Adam and Eve sinned that they felt naked! The other reason there is Nudity in the movie is that it's easier and sometimes more fun to have sex with at least some of your clothes off.
There was nudity in the novel. Since I have not yet seen the movie I can only say that Watchmen the graphic novel was less of a "superhero" story and more of a political commentary. The nudity in the novel really brought out character development. Dr Manhattan was nude because of the way his powers are. Watch the movie or read the book and you might not be so upset over something so trivial.
Okay, I'll see what I can do. Oh and forgive me for taking things off topic, but would anybody consider Zorro, Judge Dredd, or Robocop superheroes?
Yes. Zorro, Judge Dredd, Robocop, Michael Knight, Sherlock Holmes, even Holmes and Yo-Yo; all can be seen as superheroes.
Oh, I almost forgot. What about Tank Girl?
Read the novel and you'll understand. The movie is quite faithful to it.
