‘Veronica Mars’ Movie Awaits Final Act
Rob Thomas told Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello that "I haven’t gotten far on my Veronica Mars movie outline. I thought I had the idea broken, but I’ve hit a wall in the final act that I haven’t quite figured out. And with Cupid and Party Down occupying 80 hours a week, and a new baby boy occupying the remaining hours, I haven’t nailed it down. I’m hopeful that I can find the time to figure it out over the Christmas holidays."
Thomas is getting a rare second chance with Cupid, which we recently reported was receiving a March 24 debut on ABC. VM would also be a second chance, taking the beloved but low-rated television series to the silver screen along with star Kristen Bell.
Bell could use the work now that her character met a definitive end on Heroes this week.
“Kristen’s return was never meant to be long term,” Ausiello wrote, “so she was leaving one way or the other. But as I hinted in last week’s AA, I wasn’t expecting her exit to be so permanent. And it is permanent. Unlike 90 percent of the deaths on Heroes, this one will stick. Ironic, no?”
Wow! I wasnt sure how serious Rob Thomas was about the movie, especially now that he's dealing with two shows, but this is great news! I was never a fan of the direction the series went in in season 3 (except of course the finale, which was excellent), so i'd really like to see Rob Thomas making a movie the way he wants to, without worrying about network executives trying to dumb everything down and focus on the love interest aspects, because that sells. http://www.igp-scifi.com
God help me, I'm excited about this.
Can't wait for this movie, TV is not the same without the show
I have all three seasons on DVD, don't know what I would do without… VM is the goddamned best show of modern time, I hope the movie pans out!!:D
I can't even put into words how excited I am about this film. I of course own the three seasons of VMars and have watched the entire series a good 15 to 20 times through. I love love love the cast and the writing and story lines are just brilliant. My one request is that Duncan come back. I am sure that I anger LoVe fans for saying it, but Duncan and Veronica are perfect for each other and their relationship was completely cheated during the second season. Logan and V always had a good report, but looking at their dwindling relations in season 3 it is difficult for me to picture any sort of reunion, seeing as Veronica is always stubborn and set in her ways. I think that the relationship with Piz and Veronica was awful and always felt weird to me. I can't put my finger on it, but there was always something off about it. I also request that Parker not be brought back in any capacity in the movie because her character was never as good as all the others and she really didn't have the story lines or the mystery surrounding her that even the episode guest stars did. I would also love to see Troy back because even in the episode, The Rapes of Grath, it seemed like his story line wasn't over. In fact I expected him to come back in season three as a Hearst student, but I guess we can't all be that lucky. I know that my expectancy for all these characters to come back probably means a 5 hour long movie, but I am just expecting a lot out of this movie, seeing as VMars is and always will be one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE SHOWS and I have high hopes that the movie (like the potential Arrested Development movie, fingers crossed) will tie up loose ends and satisfy my desire for more Neptune drama!
Please please renew this show! It is amazing! I cried when they cancelled it. Do network execs know that VM has fans ALL over the world? Have they heard of the Facebook group "Real Men Love Veronica Mars"? She's got a great following– stick with the season 1 & 2 models please!
Veronica Mars is definitely the best show ever! As a fan who has watched each episode going on 128 times, I have complete faith in any decisions Rob Thomas makes for the characters and storylines of this movie. I hope the other writers and crew will be there to support this movie. Even though it is no longer on the air, I still watch as often as possible. I have gotten many people to watch the dvds. I have extra copies of each season to lend out so I would never be without them. I give more as gifts whenever I can. I have only had good feedback from everyone who has seen the show. I hope the movie can live up to the greatness of the show itself.
This would make my year. Veronica Mars is my favorite tv show EVER.YES YES YES!!!!!
please make this movie! Asap! I'll never ask you for anything again!
