One might look at this as a giant "screw you" to the movie critics, who, of course, are used to it by now. That’s how elitism works.
Did you mean anti-elitism? The general public sees critics as elitists; therefore, the general public will go see a movie to spite the critics?As a rule, I try not to associate with the general public.

I seldom go to the movies. When I had HBO and Cinemax, I'd watch them on television. Now, I have to rent them.Watching movies so much later than the movie going public is like waiting for the trade in comics—by the time you see (or read) it, you know enough of the details that it takes some of the fun out of the experience, but it is cheaper.
