Lex Luthor On Plans For Justice League, Flash, Wonder Woman Movies In 2013

Jeff RobinovLex Luthor, evil genius and president of the DC Universe, spoke today on his plans for Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, the Justice League, and of course, Superman…

…our mistake. This is actually Jeff Robinov, evil genius and president of the Warner Bros. motion picture group, which owns the DC Universe, who spoke today with the Los Angeles Times on his plans for Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, the Justice League, and of course, Superman…

The first priority for the man with the ultimate say on what films get made at Warner Bros.: Finally getting the Justice League, DC’s team featuring all its top characters, on the big screen in 2013. The picture had been very close to production in late 2007 and early 2008, but was killed by the Writers Guild of America strike, tax credit issues in Australia, and concerns by some at Warner about presenting a competing (and conflicting) version of Batman while director Christopher Nolan’s films were breaking box office records.

But Robinov said a new Justice League script is in the works. Also being written for Warner are scripts featuring the Flash and Wonder Woman, who could be spun off into their own movies after Justice League.

We apologize for the confusion. And we suddenly understand why no one is talking about having Luthor in the next Superman film.

We know, we know, you’re weary and worn out, tired of all things political. But, we loved this show when it was first on the air and miss it terribly. Warner Bros. WBDD is also giving fans of The West Wing something to vote “yes” for this Election Week – an exclusive behind-the-scenes interview with one of the show’s executive producers, Thomas Schlamme.  Now available at , fans can get a sneak peek and hear details about the show they love.

“The overwhelming fan response to the show has always been truly humbling and I’m excited to work with Warner Bros. in bringing this collection to consumers,” said The West Wing Executive Producer Thomas Schlamme, who is featured in a special interview clip.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’, Yet Remains Flat

‘The Dark Knight Rises’, Yet Remains Flat

Christopher Nolan’s third Batman film will be called “The Dark Knight Rises” and although we still don’t know who will be the villain of the 2012 film, he did eliminate one of the big contenders: “It won’t be the Riddler,” Nolan said in an exclusive interview with Hero Complex.

Most interesting is that Warner Bros.
agreed with Nolan that the film should not be in 3-D, instead using high-definition approaches and IMAX cameras. One could argue that he’s leaving money on the table by not embracing 3-D and the higher ticket prices, but I suspect he’ll still do fine dominating IMAX screens for a good long while, which also sell seats at a premium price.

Luthor Returns To Smallville

Luthor Returns To Smallville

The wait is over! Now we know – Luthor will be returning to Smallville this November (schedule willing) for at least two episodes in its tenth and final season.had

Ummm… To be fair, that’s Lionel Luthor. We haven’t heard about his depilated-pated kid Lex yet, who might be surprised to learn that neither of them are still dead. When last seen, Lex pushed his daddy out a window to his death.

According to Entertainment Weekly (owned by Time Warner, which owns Warner Bros, which owns DC Comics and produces Smallville), Lionel, played by John Glover, will be joining a slew of Smallville ex-expatriates, including Laura Vandervoort as Supergirl, James Marsters as Brainiac, and
Michael Shanks as Hawkman. And he won’t be the only returning dead daddy, either: Pa Kent himself will be back, again, still in the capable hands of John Schneider.

Some of Smallville‘s finest moments were between Glover and Michael Rosenbaum, who played his upwardly-mobile son Lex. There’s no word on Lex’s return to the series; my guess is that we will see him back for at least the final two episodes – the latter of which concluding with Clark Kent putting on his cape and big red S and flying off into the sunset.

Green Lantern Might Drop Deadpool

Green Lantern Might Drop Deadpool

Rob Liefeld reveals Ryan Reynolds, everybody’s favorite cinematic Deadpool, might abandon the role now that next year’s Green Lantern movie is to be the first of a trilogy.

Unless, of course, GL tanks. Then it’s every man for himself.

According to Rob, who created Deadpool for Marvel Comics, Warner Bros is determined to make Reynolds’ superhero persona exclusively restricted to the Emerald Emasculator. He points out that Harrison Ford managed to handle both Han Solo and Indiana Jones; since I’m older, I’ll note Buster Crabbe handled both Flash Gordon AND Buck Rogers… as well as Tarzan, Billy the Kid, Captain Gallant, and Red Berry. And we might not have the bandwidth to list all of Timothy Dalton’s appearances as comics and heroic fantasy characters.

The directing chores on Deadpool have been offered to Robert Rodriguez with a start date sometime after production wraps on Spy Kids 4, should he take the gig. The Zombieland screenwriters have written the script. In case you missed it, Reynolds played Deadpool in the Wolverine origin movie.

Green Lantern is set to hit the theaters on June 17, 2011. It’s directed by two-time James Bond director Martin Campbell.
