Demons of Sherwood: Out With A Fight!

Demons of Sherwood: Out With A Fight!

Today’s episode of Demons of Sherwood is the finale.  Robert Tinnell and Bo Hampton wrap up their tale of Robin Hood and his Merry Men with a final showdown over the Holy Grail.

They fight demons — and not just metaphorically.  Will Robin and Marian live long enough to realize they were meant to be together?

MySpace and BBC Reach Doctor Who Deal

MySpace users will soon be able to view bits, pieces and even full episodes of BBC original programming, thanks to a deal between the two entities announced last week.

According to the deal, the site’s video platform, MySpaceTV, will present selected programming from the BBC, including interviews and episodes of programs such as Doctor Who, Torchwood and Robin Hood. The deal is the first of its kind for social networking site MySpace, which is heavily concentrating its efforts on video and multimedia development.

MySpace launched MySpaceTV in June 2007. The BBC video channel on MySpaceTV can be found at: www.myspace.com/bbcworldwide.

Rewriting Spider-Man 3

Rewriting Spider-Man 3

Tom The Bomb has some interesting ideas on what should have been in Spider-Man 3, along with many of the problems in the film:

  • They did it AGAIN. Sandman is a criminal just to raise cash for his sick daughter? Geez, why don’t they just pit Spidey against Robin Hood? Maybe the Dalai Lama could become Electro to free Tibet. At least they didn’t make Flint Marko crazy — he’s too good at pulling himself together! (Rim shot) But he’s still too sympathetic.
  • Evil Harry winds up not evil once he sees the error of his ways — that is, once Accomplice Butler Guy reveals something he could have told Harry two movies ago.

What are some of your ideas? Feel free to discuss in comments. And it’s been a month, so it’s a spoiler-friendly zone. You’ve been warned.

BBC America puts on weight

BBC America puts on weight

BBC America has announced a revamped schedule that will thrill many fans of different genres.  Beginning shortly, there will be themed blocks airing from 8 pm – 10 pm:

    * Tuesday Nitro – targeting male viewers with such shows as MI-5, which focuses on British intelligence battling international espionage and global terrorism, as well as the drama Ultimate Force about an elite army unit in dangerous situations.

    * Wicked Wednesday – aiming at female viewers with such dramas as Footballers Wive$ with Joan Collins joining for the new season; Hotel Babylon about the antics of an exclusive hotel; Goldplated, a comedy about a rich family who exists on credit cards; and Sinchronicity which follows three young party-goers who are looking for love.

    * Big Thursday – will feature new seasons of "larger-than-life" personalities such as Gordon Ramsay and his two shows: Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares and Gordon Ramsay’s F Word in addition to the celebrity gossip program The Graham Norton Show.

    * Crime Scene Friday – back-to-back crime shows including Whistleblower, The Innocence Project, Silent Witness and Waking the Dead.

    * Supernatural Saturday – enters the world of science fiction and the paranormal with such shows as Jekyll, Torchwood, Life on Mars, Hex and Doctor Who.

    * The Brit Movie – a different British movie each week on Sunday nights and prior to the movie presentation, the network will air Adventure Sundays starting at 7p with new seasons of Robin Hood and Wild at Heart set in the South African bush.

Fans hoping for Torchwood to follow Doctor Who at Sci-Fi Channel as well as those of us without BBC America (curse you, Cablevision!) will no doubt be disappointed.

Actor from Batman and Beowulf to appear in Indiana Jones IV

Actor from Batman and Beowulf to appear in Indiana Jones IV

You can’t make a pop-culture classic without Ray Winstone. At least, that’s what the BBC is reporting.  Veteran character actor Ray Winstone is rumored to be the newest addition to next year’s Indiana Jones film.

Winstone has appeared in Batman Begins and The Chronicles of Nania, in addition to The Departed, Sexy Beast, Cold Mountain, Quadrophenia and many more films.  He was Will Scarlett in the British television production of Robin Hood.  This fall, movie audiences will be able to see him in Robert Zemekis’ Beowulf, with a screenplay by Roger Avery and somebody named Neil Gaiman.

Genre film costume auction

Genre film costume auction

British auctioneer Bonhams is holding a massive auction of what is believed to be the UK’s largest collection of film and television costumes on March 6th. The collection comes from Angels The Costumiers, a fifth generation family firm that has been doing costumes since 1840 and worked on 26 movies that have won Oscars for Outstanding Achievement In Costume Design.

Items going under the hammer include costumes from Superman, Supergirl, six of the Doctors from Dr. Who, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Highlander, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, James Bond’s suits from Thunderball, The Spy Who Loved Me, and Tomorrow Never Dies, and Alec Guinness’s Obi Wan cloak, pictured here.

In recognition of the popular appeal of the items, Bonhams’ saleroom will be allowing interested customers the opportunity to try on selected costumes. So if you can’t afford to bid, you could just try flying to London — but you probably won’t be able to nip off somewhere and play with your significant other unless you win. (Hat tip to Craig for the story.)
