4 New Images from ‘Wonder Woman’

Warner Premier provided us with four new images from March 3’s Wonder Woman animated feature. Wonder Woman will also be available OnDemand and Pay-Per-View as well as available for download day and date, March 3.

Wonder Woman will receive a big screen premiere at New York Comic Con on February 6, 2009 in the IGN Theater at the Javits Center. The 8:30 p.m. screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring members of the film’s cast and crew. Ticket information is forth-coming.

Here’s what you’re looking at:

Artemis (center, voiced by Rosario Dawson) takes the lead during a gathering of Amazonians. Princess Diana, later to be known as Wonder Woman, stands immediately to the right of Artemis.

Ares assumes an even more menacing figure in battle as the primary villain, voiced by Alfred Molina.

Wonder Woman gets the upper hand, er, lasso on Ares’ henchman Deimos during a thrilling action sequence.

Steve Trevor, voiced by Nathan Fillion, reacts angrily to Ares’ affront to an American icon.

Neil Patrick Harris Loves Being One of Joss Whedon’s Players

Neil Patrick Harris Loves Being One of Joss Whedon’s Players

"Oh, God, I wish I could say there was going to be a Dr. Horrible sequel, but I know there’s so many people involved in the creation of it that have a lot of other stuff going on right now," Neil Patrick Harris told Sci Fi Wire. "Mainly, Joss [is doing] Dollhouse, and he has another movie, Cabin in the Woods, that he’s doing at the same time. So I don’t know that anything would happen soon. But everyone has been super-enthusiastic about it, and I think that means that hopefully something will come."

Dr. Horrible just hit stores as a DVD after becoming one of the most talked about Internet sensations of the year, appearing on numerous Best Of lists. Harris, as the super-villain, recognizes that once you work with Whedon, you tend to get cast in his future projects.

After all, Dr. Horrible featured Firefly’s Nathan Fillion and Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Felicia Day while Dollhouse was built around Buffy alum Eliza Dushku and now features Angel’s Amy Acker.

"Wow! Well, you know, I’m in CBS’ corner right now because of How I Met Your Mother, so I don’t know that I’d be able to, but I think [Dollhouse is] produced by 20th Century Fox, so, you know, they’re sort of cousins," he said. "That would be fun! All right. I’ll ask Joss! I like being a cousin in the Whedon family, so whatever he wants me to do. Except porn."

The studios and networks are asking their producers to save money on their shows.  ABC yesterday ordered a 2% across the board cut for all their prime time programming.  Other networks have ordered similar trims as the economy makes the advertising revenue iffier.

The alphabet network also trimmed their orders for two midseason replacement series indicating they have excess inventory for the second half of the current season.  Rather than the usual 13 episodes, Castle, with Nathan Fillion as a crime author, and The Unusuals have had their orders cut down to ten.  This follows Samantha Who?’s order being cut to 20 rather than the normal 22 episodes comprising a full season. They also canceled the midseason comedy Single With Parents over creative problems.

ABC is negotiating to sign actress Reiko Aylesworth (24) for a “major recurring role” on Lost, according to The Hollywood Reporter. If signed, she would portray Amy, described as a smart and successful professional woman with a love for the outdoors who is looking for the right man.” The role is envisioned as a four-episode assignment.

Amy Price-Francis (Californication) has also found a recurring role but on Fox’s 24. The six-episode story arc would have her playing a ruthless attorney working for Jonas Hodges (Jon Voight).

“Wonder Woman” Trailer on Yahoo Movies

“Wonder Woman” Trailer on Yahoo Movies

Yahoo Movies has the new trailer for Wonder Woman, and I must say that it’s looking pretty decent. Before you get too excited, keep in mind that this is the direct-to-DVD animated film — not the on-again, off-again live-action film Joss Whedon departed last year.

Unfortunately, you don’t get to hear the voice everyone’s buzzing about: Nathan Fillion as Col. Steve Trevor. You do, however, get to hear Keri Russell voicing everyone’s favorite Amazon princess. Like DC’s previous D2DVD features, the film is packed with notable voices, including Alfred Molina, Rosario Dawson and Virginia Madsen. IMDB has the full cast list.

You can find out more about the film and sign up for updates over at the official Wonder Woman website. The film is scheduled for a February 2009 release.

SDCC: Joss Whedon and the Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog Panel

At San Diego Comic-Con’s Doctor Horrible panel, Joss Whedon and company used the opportunity to make a few announcements regarding the future of the Doctor Horrible franchise, as well as a surprise bit of information on the return of a popular character in the Buffy: Season Eight comics.

The big announcement of the panel was the development of a fourth act of the Doctor Horrible saga somewhere on the horizon. While they wait for Act IV, fans of Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog can expect the release of the soundtrack on iTunes in “a couple weeks.” In addition, for the planned DVD fans will be invited to submit their own three-minute video applications for admittance to the Evil League of Evil, the show’s writers will decide on the best 10 and include them as a special feature.

In news not related to the topic of the panel, Joss Whedon announced that fan favorite character Oz will be returning in the Buffy: Season Eight comics.

Featuring Horrible director and writer Joss Whedon, actors, Neil Patrick Harris, Felicia Day, Nathan Fillion, and Simon Helberg, as well as co-creators and writers, Jed Whedon, Zach Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen, if nothing else the panel served to confirm suspicions that Joss probably has the best job in the world.

Joss Whedon on his Superhero Musical

Joss Whedon on his Superhero Musical

"Once more, with feeling!" No, it’s not the infamous musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but Joss Whedon is developing another musical.

This time around, the project will feature his other passion: superheroes! Whedon revealed on his blog today that during the writer’s strike he and his family wrote three 10-minute episodes of a musical intended for the Internet. And to his great surprise, they actually finished it, began preproduction and are in the midst of filming it.

Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog will star Neil Patrick Harris, best known for his role as Doogie Howser, M.D., and Nathan Fillion, best known as Capt. Reynolds on the sci-fi show Firefly. We’re tickled that the actors once again assume those titles when they play Doctor Horrible and Captain Hammer respectively. Rounding out the cast is Buffy alumni Felicia Day as Penny.

The news directly from Whedon:

So…..

The bag is catless.

During the strike I started writing a musical intended as a limited internet series, 3 episodes of approximately 10 minutes each. Writing with me was my brother Jed, his fiancee Maurissa, and my other brother Zack. To my shock and surprise, we finished it. To my greater shock and surprise, we managed (with the help of many people I’ll be praising at length soon) to drag it into preproduction (yes, just as DOLLHOUSE was given a start date two months away and all my comics were due.) And today, after a grueling week of writing everything ever while trying to be a producer, I got to start shooting. A musical.

This much I will say: It’s the story of a low-rent super-villain, the hero who keeps beating him up, and the cute girl from the laundromat he’s too shy to talk to. And I’m having the time of my life.

"DOCTOR HORRIBLE’S SING-ALONG BLOG"

Neil Patrick Harris…..as Dr. Horrible

Nathan Fillion……….as Captain Hammer

Felicia Day………….as Penny

And a cast of Dozens!

Coming soon.
