The company that made all those quick political comics is at it again:

‘TRIBUTE: MICHAEL JACKSON, KING OF POP COMIC BOOK OFFERS LASTING REMEMBRANCE FOR FANS FROM BLUEWATER

To millions he was the King of Pop; one of the world’s most
cherished entertainers and a celebrated international icon. With his
untimely passing, Michael Jackson left an extraordinary and tragic
legacy. Bluewater Productions is paying tribute in October to his
memory and legacy with a special collectors edition biography comic.

The newest addition to the publisher’s critically acclaimed
biography library will trace Jackson’s rise as a musical prodigy with
the “Jackson 5” through last Thursdays sad end. The book will feature
highlights from his storied career and cover his enigmatic private life.

“Michael Jackson’s music served as the soundtrack to countless lives…including mine,” said Bluewater president Darren G. Davis, “His influence on our culture has been profound.”

“TRIBUTE: Michael Jackson, King of Pop,” features a wraparound cover
and foreword by “The Official Michael Jackson Fan Club’s” Giuseppe
Mazzola. Mazzola was also Jackson’s personal friend. The issue is being
written by Wey-Yuih Loh, (Political Power: Colin Powell” and “Political
Power: Joe Biden) and illustrated by Giovanni Timpano (Vincent Price Presents). Noted cover artist Vinnie Tartamella will also provide an alternate wraparound cover.

On the bright side, there won’t be a comic three years down the line where Michael returns because he was in a cave at the beginning of time. Probably.

Michael Jackson is on Fire

Michael Jackson is on Fire

Today in 1984, Jermaine Jackson did what was all too firmly engrained in his once show biz kid ways — he knew the show had to go on. That, or he was completely oblivious to the fact that in the background of a Pepsi commercial shoot, his superstar brother, Michael, was aflame — literally. Michael Jackson’s hair burst into flame during a take and there was Jermaine–strumming and rocking away. And this wasn’t a closed set, mind you–it was a live performance with 3,000 Michael lovers, experiencing some serious dramatic irony when they saw their beloved turn victim to malfunctioning pyrotechnics as his brother kept the show going. MJ turned out ok though, didn’t he…sigh…

The Christmas Cottage movie

The Christmas Cottage movie

I never, never, never want to hear another complaint about adapting film from dumb comic books ever again. And if you’re tired of articles with headlines like "Pow! Zap! Wham! Comics movies aren’t just for kids" you don’t either. But now, you have a trump card to play – Hollywood is adapting movies from paintings.

Yes, paintings. Not painted comic books. Paintings.

First Showing shows us that Lions Gate is making a film based on a single painting by Thomas Kinkade, "painter of light" in the same way that Michael Jackson is the "king of pop," called The Christmas Cottage. Peter O’Toole has been cast in it. They note: "The film is partly biographical and based on events that led American painter Kinkade to become an artist." No word on whether they’ll include the FBI investigations or sexual harassment allegations – if Peter O’Toole’s in it, I suppose there’s a chance.

It’s shooting this month for the obvious December release, because this will be the film that gets O’Toole his Oscar.
