New Shots of Iron Monger from ‘Iron Man’ Released

New Shots of Iron Monger from ‘Iron Man’ Released

Yahoo Movies has three new pictures of the Iron Monger in action. The Iron Monger is the gigantic metallic villain that ol’ shellhead is forced to do battle with in the upcoming Iron Man movie.

Judging by the size of the Iron Monger, it certainly seems that Tony Stark will have his work cut out for him. Then again, does bigger always equal better? Is it the size of the armor or how you use it?

Iron Man hits theaters on May 2. The film is directed by Jon Favreau and stars Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges.

New ‘Iron Man’ Poster Debuts

Sure, all those fancy suits on the previous Iron Man posters were cool, but what’s a poster without the handsome face of Tony Stark himself? Paramount has released the newest poster for the upcoming Iron Man film, which features profile shots of the film’s principle cast: Robert Downey Jr., Jeff Bridges, Terrence Howard and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Of course, the fancy armor is also in the poster, but who cares about that? People care about Terrence Howard looking pensive and Tony Stark’s immaculate facial hair.

Directed by Jon Favreau (Elf, Made), Iron Man hits theaters on May 2. Until then, you’ll just have to stare at this poster in the lobby of your local theater and anticipate all the angry message board posts you’ll write after it comes out.

Marvel Drops 14 New ‘Iron Man’ Movie Wallpapers

Marvel Drops 14 New ‘Iron Man’ Movie Wallpapers

Usually, I don’t get very excited when Marvel, or any other company for that matter, releases a set of wallpapers for an upcoming movie. I don’t really use them on my computer so they aren’t all that important to me.

However, in this case I’ll make an exception. A jet-boot using, intelligent armor wearing, energy ray throwing, ex-alchoholic leader of the Avengers exception. This is Iron Man, after all.

The latest set of Wallpapers feature all your favorite Iron Man cast members, some in new scenes, including Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark, Gwynneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Terrence Howard as Jim Rhodes and Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stain (aka Iron Monger).

There’s even a couple of Iron Man himself in action and one of director Jon Favreau as well, just to round out your collection. Go get ’em.

Iron Man hits theaters May 2nd, 2008.

Here’s Your Iron Man Cast

Here’s Your Iron Man Cast

Entertainment Weekly just released the cast picture for next summer’s Iron Man. The line-up shows us Robert Downey Jr. as wealthy weapon-maker Tony Stark, Gwyneth Paltrow as his administrator Pepper Potts, Terence Howard as his buddy/bodyguard (and later War Machine) Jim Rhodes, and a clean-headed Jeff Bridges as mentor (and villain?) Obadiah Stane. Those of us who remember Stane’s character from Card’s Ultimate Iron Man storyline know how truly evil this character can get, and I can’t wait!

The movie, directed by Jon Favreau, drops next May, so expect to see more promotional pictures to come.

As a contrast to all the Spider-Man stories this week, Alan Kistler sends us a quick update on other movies in the pipeline:

"This is an interesting week in terms of comic book movies and the like.

Iron Man director Jon Favreau has confirmed that Jeff Bridges will be shaving his head to play the role of Obadiah Stane, who in the comics was a wealthy, sociopathic industrialist who took Tony Stark’s company and manipulated the recovering alcoholic into drinking again.

Rumors are flying that Sarah Michelle Gellar is up for the role of Harley Quinn in the upcoming Batman sequel The Dark Knight, but this has yet to be confirmed by anyone.

And "Moriarty" at Ain’tItCoolNews has posted up a review of an advanced screening of The Transformers. The review is full of spoilers concerning plot, so if you want the gist without having the story ruined for you, here are the highlights:

  • The plot will involve the Allspark cube, analogous to the "Autobot Matrix of leadership" from the original cartoon series.
  • The characters in the film are said to be very accurate to how they were portrayed in the Generation One cartoon series.
  • Optimus Prime is said to have amazing action scenes and is showcased as an incredible warrior.
  • To the satisfaction of older fans, Megatron and Starscream do indeed argue quite a bit.
  • The supporting cast of John Turturro, John Voight and Josh Duhmel are said to give a solid performance.
  • The special effects are supposed to be very good, though it is said that a couple of the robots look odd when speaking with robot lips.
  • There is a criticism that certain characters are not shown enough or given enough to do, as screentime must be focused on explaining the origin and nature of the Transformers.
  • There are supposed to be several references to the old cartoon for fans to enjoy, including lines by Optimus that were lifted from the original series.

Sounds like a great report to me. Here’s hoping the movie lives up to the hype."
