New ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ Still Released

New ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ Still Released

Wolverine is the best there is at what he does – looking grizzled and menacing as he pops his claws in a posed publicity still.

IGN has gotten their hands on another shot of Hugh Jackman in his Wolverine duds from the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine prequel movie. Click on the link to see the Wolvie in all his full-sized splendor.

The shot tells us little about the movie other than the fact that Wolverine has been a fan of leather jackets for a very long time. He also looks pretty pissed off at the guy snapping the picture. Perhaps Wolverine was unhappy with his choice of lens.

‘Incredible Hulk’ Promotional Art Revealed

‘Incredible Hulk’ Promotional Art Revealed

We’ve gotten glimpses of what the Hulk and the Abomination may look like in the forthcoming Incredible Hulk movie thanks to the toys produced for the film, but now we can get a closer look.

Bad Taste has posted some new promotional artwork for the film that depicts the Hulk in various states of rage. This is the artwork given to licensers to demonstrate what the green goliath will look like in the movie. If you squint hard enough, you can kind of see the resemblance to Edward Norton.

The website is in Italian, but the brute force of the Hulk’s smashing translates any cultural and linguistic barriers. If you’re desperate to read the site, be smart like the Leader and use Babelfish to translate it!

‘Astro Boy’ Movie Casting Begins

‘Astro Boy’ Movie Casting Begins

When the people of the future are in trouble, they turn to one thing to save them from the forces of evil -a tiny robot that doesn’t own a pair of pants and can deploy guns from his rear.

Astro Boy is being adapted into a big budget CG movie by Warner Bros. and The Weinstein Company and the titular character has already been cast. The voice of Astro Boy will be provided by Freddie Highmore.

Highmore is familiar to most film fans as Charlie Bucket from Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He’s no stranger to voice work either, as he recently provided the voice of Pantalaimon in The Golden Compass.

Astro Boy debuted as a manga in 1952 and became a television series in 1963. The character was created by Osamu Tezuka, considered the "god of manga" by some, and the television series was one of the first cartoons to use the anime asthetic.

The film version is slated for release in 2009 and is being scripted by Timothy Harris, the man responsible for Space Jam – the greatest movie to ever involve Michael Jordan and Bill Murray teaming up with cartoons to fight monsters from space. Astro Boy is in good hands.

‘Superhero Movie’ Poster Revealed

‘Superhero Movie’ Poster Revealed

It was only  a matter of time. After spoofing horror films, teen films, date films, epic films and Spartans, the satire train has finally set its sights on the highly profitable world of superhero movies. Some of the comedic "talent" responsible for bringing you Scary Movie are releasing Superhero Movie on March 28.

If the film is anything like its spoof brethren, most of the jokes will undoubtedly be ripped wholesale from other films and be of the "Hey, I remember that movie!" variety. It will also probably do huge business at the box office, ensuring more films of its like.

Superhero Hype has posted a large image of the film’s movie poster, which includes Tracy Morgan as Dr. Xavier, Regina Hall as the Storm-like Mrs. Xavier, Simon Rex as the Human Torch, Pamela Anderson as The Invisible Girl, Craig Bierko as Wolverine and Leslie Neilsen as, uh, Uncle Albert. With a cast this star- studded, there’s no way this film can’t rock!

New ‘Incredible Hulk’ Images Hit the Web

New ‘Incredible Hulk’ Images Hit the Web

Empire Magazine has posted two new, exclusive images from the forthcoming Incredible Hulk film.

The images show an angry Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) strapped down with electrodes all over him. Like most things in this world, including puppy dogs, ice cream and the New York Mets, being strapped down makes Banner angry and causes him to Hulk out.

The second image gives us a nice profile shot of General Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt), wearing a cast on his left arm. Tussling with the Hulk tends to leave people with injuries. It looks like Ross got off lucky.

Fans will get to see the green goliath in action once The Incredible Hulk hits theaters on June 13, 2008.

Galactus to Appear in ‘Silver Surfer’ Film?

Galactus to Appear in ‘Silver Surfer’ Film?

Galactus’ appearance in Fantasic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer was a little underwhelming. Then again, so was the entire movie, so it was just par for the course.

When people think of Galactus, they think of a giant man in a purple and blue suit eating planets, not a vacuous gassy cloud that threatens to give Earth the dutch oven treatment.

Fans of the old school Galactus may be in luck. At Wondercon, Silver Surfer screenwriter J. Michael Straczynski commented on the status of Galactus in the upcoming film, which will be a prequel and detail the origins the giant planet eater and his silver herald.

According to Straczynski, the last Fantastic Four film refrained from showing Galactus in all his glory in order to leave his origin for the Silver Surfer film. Will we get to see Kirby’s version of Galactus or will we be subjected to another storm cloud? We won’t know for sure until 2009, when the movie will supposedly be released.

More Animated ‘Spectacular Spider-Man’ Art Revealed

More Animated ‘Spectacular Spider-Man’ Art Revealed

The WB’s new Spectacular Spider-Man animated series doesn’t premiere until March 8, but artist Sean Galloway has posted some character designs from the show  to hold you over until then.

The art depicts teenaged versions of Harry Osborn, Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker, along with Parker in his web-slinger duds. Spider-Man looks limber and ready to do some crime fighting, but what’s with Harry’s pose? Perhaps he likes to dazzle his classmates by doing "the robot" at random moments.

Martian Manhunter Cast in ‘Justice League’ Film

Martian Manhunter Cast in ‘Justice League’ Film

If Warner Bros. decides to move Justice League out of Australia, a few friends from down under will be tagging along for the ride.

Director George Miller has cast Hugh Keays-Byrne in the role of the Martian Manhunter. Byrne is known primarily for his work in Australian film and television.

Miller first worked with Byrne a scant 29 years ago on the original Mad Max , which was released in 1979.

Byrne played Toecutter, the main villain of the film responsible for murdering Max’s family and turning him into the post-apocalyptic vigilante we all know and love. Now he’s playing a Martian superhero. The two characters actually share a common bond – a fear of exploding cars and fires – making it easy for Byrne to step into J’onn J’onzz’s green skin and blue underwear.

‘Justice League’ Movie Heads To Canada

‘Justice League’ Movie Heads To Canada

Warner Bros.’ Justice League movie seems to be facing far deadlier villains than the Legion of Doom before it even gets off the ground. A rushed script and casting issues supposedly put the film’s status in jeopardy, but a dispute over filming incentives in Australia may damage things further.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that production on the film may be moving to Canada due to a dispute with the Australian Federal Government. The country’s new film incentive program gives a 40-percent rebate to Australian producers, but there is debate as to whether or not it should apply to movies with budgets exceeding $30 million dollars.

Director George Miller wants to keep the production based at Fox Studios in Australia in order to work with the same team responsible for the Oscar-winning Happy Feet.

"One of the reasons for doing Justice League in this country is the opportunity to bring back all the people we lost on Happy Feet who went overseas," Miller said. "We spent four years developing this talent and the cream of them left because they didn’t have another film to go on to …

"The idea is to say come back, start off on Justice League then move onto Happy Feet 2."

Miller described the film’s current state as "precarious" and said that Warner Bros. is looking overseas for filming locations, with Canada being the likeliest destination.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine production is starting in Australia while the Justice League are leaving it and heading for Wolverine’s home country. Don’t superheroes have any national pride anymore?
