The Law Is A Ass #431: Spider-Man’s Crime Fighting Needs Improv-Ment

Bob Ingersoll

By day Bob Ingersoll was an attorney in the Cuyahoga County Public Defender Office, Appellate Division in Cleveland, Ohio, until he retired in 2009. But in the “Real World” he has also been a freelance writer since 1975, when he sold his first comic-book story to the late, lamented Charlton Comics. He’s still at it and, in addition to his long-running column “The Law Is a Ass” has sold stories to DC, Marvel, Innovation, Now Comics, Comico, Kitchen Sink and others; as well as co-authoring the novels Captain America: Liberty’s Torch and Star Trek: The Case of the Colonist’s Corpse. Bob is married with children, which is about as close to Al Bundy as he cares to get.

Glenn, why are your bio and picture and byline on this article by Bob Ingersoll?

Bob, you haven’t posted in a while; I hope you haven’t fled ComicMix too. Now that you’ve wrapped up the Trial of Barry Allen it looks like you can gear up for the Impeachment Trial of Oliver Queen. And it seems to be even more messed up than the last Arrowverse trial we’ve seen.

Star (formerly Starling) City seems to be in northern California as it is in the DC Comics Universe. A mayoral impeachment isn’t a criminal affair, is it? Even if criminal charges might develop from it? Yes, he’s being accused of vigilantism as Green Arrow, but isn’t that a separate matter?

I’m not sure what the charges should be: Mismanagement; Abuse of Authority; Conflict of Interest? How could Oliver be facing a possible life sentence over his impeachment?

I haven’t left. I’ve just been doing a bit of traveling and haven’t had time to write a column.

As for ARROW episodes, I think Ollie’s upcoming trial is for violating the city anti-vigilante Law and other crimes and, while it’s happening concurrently to the impeachment, it’s unrelatef to the impeachment.

Thanks for the update! It sounds like it might not be set up as poorly as I imagined. I still don’t expect it to go well!
