to me its way over due since after all they had the master be a female plus in the little web episode the night of the doctor that introduced the war doctor the sisters of khan tell the eight doctor that a timelord can be old or young. plump or thin . or man or woman. look forward to what the new doctor does when the show comes back next year

  2. Two unrelated comments: I hate to be That fan, but nitpick I must. Ms. Whittaker will be the 12th regeneration of the Doctor, which is to say the 13th incarnation. There was even a line of dialog in the episode, “The Five Doctors,” which pointed this numbering system out.

Also, I recall when you were ending the series of GrimJim Twilley, you teased us fans with a one-word hint about his next lifetime – “Twins.” This to me was more clever and much more intriguing than a simple sexual or racial swap-out. Alas, we may never know.

I hate to be even more nitpicky, and I hope this doesn’t come across as being being a nerd-jerk about it, Neil, but she has the thirteenth regeneration even though they class her as the 13th Doctor due to the War Doctor messing this up by being the 8th regeneration and but not the 9th Doctor… I am more of an old series fan… probably for the reason it is less confusing.

A female Doctor is long overdue. And I can’t see why some men need the Doctor to be a man to be a role model… I mean what about Wonder Woman; I’m sure she is a role model for a lot of men and she even has “woman” in the name!
