I have no problem with punching a Nazi in the face. Or kicking him in the balls–or if it’s a woman, in her vulva.

Warren Ellis is totally correct, and Nick Spencer may be a good writer, but socio-politically, he’s an idiot.

    • Mike Gold says:

Oh, jeez, no I don’t think so. “Idiot” is more than a bit harsh. I think Nick — who I don’t know — is simply expressing his point of view, which to me is anti-violence in the REAL world. In this case, obviously I do not share that point of view, but he’s entitled to it.

      • Mindy Newell says:

Okay, I admit, it WAS a bit harsh. But I get crazed whenever I hear someone try to normalize Nazis.

Still, I do concede that letting lifting up the rocks and exposing the beasties who live under them is sometimes the correct thing to do–i.e., the Nazi march in Skokie, Illinois.

        • Mike Gold says:

The Chicago ACLU was right to fight for the Nazi’s right to march in Skokie, knowing it would cost them a fortune in support. Free speech is an all-or-nothing affair. And the counter-protesters were right to organize a march in opposition to the Nazis. The latter was canceled when the Nazis wimped out and canceled their march. The two marches would not have gone on at the same time, but it is possible that there could have been some mouth-punching going on had Frank Collin and his Nazis not revealed their cowardliness. I have no regrets either way. I’ll leave it to you-all to guess which of the two marches involved my organizing gifts.
