One of my favorite authors. I believe I have read all of the Nero/Archie stories including the Robert Goldsborough stories. I tried the Tecumseh Fox stories but just couldn’t get into them….and yes you are correct about these mysteries being enjoyable to reread. I try to reread one every couple of months.

Have you encountered Glen Cook’s “Garrett: PI” books?

Garrett is a cross between Archie Goodwin and Philip Marlowe, operating in the magical city of TunFaire; in the front room of his house sits the Dead Man – a member of a very large race who take a long time to die after they’ve been killed – and the Dead Man plays Wolfe to Garrett’s Archie.

GLen is a brilliant writer of darkish/hardboiled fantasy, and the Garrett stories are some of his best.

The first is Sweet Silver Blues (they all have three-word titles consisting of an adjective, a metal and a noun).

    I REALLY recommend them.
