Martha Thomases: So This Is Thanksgiving

Martha Thomases

Martha Thomases brought more comics to the attention of more people than anyone else in the industry. Her work promoting The Death of Superman made an entire nation share in the tragedy of one of our most iconic American heroes. As a freelance journalist, she has been published in the Village Voice, High Times, Spy, the National Lampoon, Metropolitan Home, and more. For Marvel comics she created the series Dakota North. Martha worked as a researcher and assistant for the author Norman Mailer on several of his books, including the Pulitzer-Prize-winning Executioner's Song, On Women and Their Elegance, Ancient Evenings, and Harlot's Ghost.

My wife and I were in NYC back in March. While there, we visited Forbidden Planet, (and The Strand right next door). Upon your recommendation, I bought Scott McCould’s The Sculptor, (which is a great read as you said), at Forbidden Planet. I asked the clerk if he knew Martha Thomases but I think he was new or a part-timer. He said he couldn’t place the name but he might know her to see her. Anyway, my local comic shop was sold out of The Sculptor so I figured I’d pick it up there. Yes, Forbidden Planet is a store to be thankful for.
    Happy Thanksgiving.
