    YAY!

Are you aware of the anime series called (i think) Technovoyagers in Japan and Thunderbirds {something-or-other} in the US?

It imagined the T-Birds as a typical modular-giant-robot team, but the English dub, at least, sort of was true to the original series’ mood and feel.

(There was at least one episode where the Evil Mastermind turned out to be a US President look exactly like Nixon and – in the English dub – sound exactly like Jimmy Carter, as i recall. Ran on Nickelodeon in the 80s)

The small local mall here in Gainesville GA had (last i looked) some of those coin-in-the-box kiddie rides – and one of them is Thunderbird 6 (or whichever that is in the takeoff GIF.

Kingsman has what i think was a tribute to Thunderbirds, with a rocket that launches vertically from an underground hangar under a swimming pool…

Me again. Watching the first episode. I see a shout-out to Space: 1999

Great review, however I must correct you on one point. Lew Grade did not demand that the original show be 60 minutes, this was actually a request of Sylvia & Gerry Anderson. The reason being that they wanted more time to develop the characters than they had with previous shows like Stingray.

Perhaps the short length (30mins) of the new series may be a disadvantage?
