  1. Correlation is not causation. While the time of the cancellation is coincidental, I’m still not 100% sure it is directly related to the film. Historically, neither DC nor Marvel has been terribly worried about making sure the comics were terribly accessible to new readers at the time of their movies. Both Batman and Spider-Man were DEAD while their last two films came out – I can’t recall if Captain America’s death plotline was going on when his first film came out.

We’ve no idea when Marvel will bring back the FF title – it’s only been about two years since the LAST time they cancelled and re-started the book, something that fans seem to have forgotten about, and Tom Brevoort happily reminds them of on his Formspring feed.

I’m convinced the film producers are pranking us. There’s not a thing that’s come out of an interview yet that has left some fans actively enraged, and some just shaking their heads about the choices being made. It’d be hilarious if the movie came out and it was nothing like what they’ve been talking about.

I couldn’t believe it when Marvel cancelled FF the first time.

    I’m with you, Mike.

  3. Mindy Newell says:

Pretty soon Marvel and DC will only be producing comics that are tied into their movies.

Oh, wait. Aren’t they doing that now? (Ironic grin here.)
