    Glad you made it, kiddo. Hang in there. And enjoy the imaginary donuts.

    Well, John, you described the medical procedures you’ve had very well. Couldn’t have done better myself! :-) I Especially love your description of the catheter bag. I’m gonna start calling it a “Gucci” at work.

    I don’t know why urologists just pull the stents out without at least a little bit of anesthesia–a couple of whiffs of nitrous oxide would do it. I do know that it is such a quick thing–as you described it–that it’s felt that the time (and expense) of recovering you isn’t worth it–and I get that the MD is saving you some money. But every time I’ve been in on one of those things I wince. So I feel for you, my friend.

    As I told you, Glenn (my brother) also had a “surprise” bypass. These days he’s playing tennis, working out, and doing his road bicycle thing–and I’m talking 70 or 100 miles easy. Don’t know when he’s going (he might have already been and is back), but he and a bunch of buddies are doing the North Carolina mountains ride.

    So hang tough, John. And know that we’re all with you.

    Ewww.

    I have to go in for a chemical stress test on my heart, the day before my birthday (10/21) and possibly for a second dose of the same ON my birthday.

    I have a serious needle phobia.

    Judging by the pictures i’ve found online, they stick a honkin’ BIG needle in your arm to pump stuff into you – not an IV, a BIG damned syringe-full.

    Kate says all they need to do is show me the needle, and that’ll be stress enough.

    My hospital time lately hasn’t been nearly as scary as yours – but in mid-July, i went in on a Tuesday for a colonoscopy … and then on Wednesday for an emergency appendectomy…

    The surgeon reported that the appendix was necrotic.

    The path report said there was a polyp inside it…

    =========

    Oh – and i don’t get any caffeine (or even CHOCOLATE) for TWENTY-FOUR HOURS before the stress test…
