    Actually, i think that “this is I”, however odd it might sound to your ear, is, in fact, correct. “This is me” is not.

    It’s been years since i had English classes, but i believe the term for it is “predicate nominative” – anyway, since the clause has a non-transitive verb (“is”, a form of “to be”), what comes after the verb should be nominative case (“I”), not objective case (“me”).
