    Great column, Vinnie.

And I am also raising my hand.

And saying, “THAT SUCKS! NOOOOOOO, MATT, PLEASE DON’T GO!”

Which I said every time the Doctor regenerated since Tom Baker. (Only the names have changed to protect the innocent.)

I’m still backing Hurt being the Valeyard or something similar – according to the Master (as i understand it – i don’t think i ever saw “Trial of a Timelord”), the Valeyard was taken from between the Doctor’s twelfth and thirteenth regenerations, and was the evil parts thereof

    • The very fact that The Valeyard’s name was used in The Name of the Doctor almost certainly holds import. It’s going to be very interesting to see what they have planned, and see how much the events change the character moving forward.

Another remote possibility is that the Hurt Doctor is extremely short-lived; within the 12-hour period that a Time Lord is bristling with regenerative energy, and can repair themselves. There’s a chance he only lived long enough to use The Moment and then regenerated again, into Nine.

  3. Great summation, Vinnie.

And I’m rooting for Alan Moore to be the final Doctor.

Well, the new Doctor obviously can’t be anything other than a white male because the show is clearly, inherently, disgustingly racist and sexist….
