    I agree that he treated the Superman character with respect but the inclusion of Ned Beatty’s Otis has always been a problem for me. Why was a bumbling buffoon necessary? Why would Luthor have anything to do with him? Otis’ presence when the movie shifted to Metropolis made the movie less respectful of the genre. Comedy relief in fine. Jackie Cooper had that covered.
