  1. A very wise friend suggested to me recently that I should save some of my rants for my fictional characters, to help breathe a little more passion into them and hopefully add a little more dimension to the fiction. I think it makes plenty of sense. I also remember reading somewhere that a writer should know far more about their creations than what is revealed in the story- even to the point of the completely trivial, which totally goes along with your advice hear.
