Is that the costume from the new film?

    Eeeewww.

For me, going ‘dark’ with Superman is going to tick off more folks then it would please. That element was always there with Batman, except for the camp-era TV series. The public doesn’t want a grim & gritty Man of Steel and neither does the fanbase. We could all be proved wrong, but I dont have high hopes.

As for AVENGERS, I saw it a week ago and I’m still smiling.

I remember the Batman Adventures (Gotham Adventures?) comic with Superman and Batgirl searching for a kidnapped Bruce Wayne.

Batgirl explains that this is Gotham; you have to be more aggressive about gathering info than in Metropolis.

So Superman snatches up a small-time crook and (by implication) threatens to toss him into the engine of an oncoming 747.

As he flies off and Batgirl swings along next to him, he asks “How was that?”

“Pretty good, but I don’t think Batman would have bought him a cup of coffee to steady his nerves…”

I hear what your saying with Superman needing a smile and not be gritty like Batman Begins, but look at what’s happened between Superman: Earth One and now with Grant Morrison’s origin in Action Comics. Those both feature grittier/ darker Supermen. I think it’s expected for the movie to go that way as well.

Pshh this article is obviously written by a DC faithful hoping for a comeback, you know in your heart that Marvel has way better Heroes AND Villians! The reason why DC only was popular in the 7Os is because they’re corny!! people can relate and look up to Spiderman and Co. Not some lames like Martian Manhunter

    • Andrew… Do you read my column regularly? I make no bones about my love for DC, and my desire for them to succeed. But if you read my column even a week ago, you’ll see how Marvel is slowly changing my opinion. That being said… don’t hate the player… hate the game.
