Whitten writes everything from news, reviews, and interviews to how-tos, con round-ups, and opinion pieces for ComicMix and others; as well as comics featured on ComicMix, MTV.com, and Reelz.com; and occasionally even award-winning poetry and fiction. When she's not writing for fun or profit, she’s sharing geeky thoughts on the Fantastic Forum radio show and podcast Made of Fail. Emily is a convention organizer and consultant, and co-chair of the fourth North American Discworld Convention, which she co-founded. She has been Program Coordinator for Awesome Con and staff for several genre cons. Emily is a program moderator for Awesome Con and Fan2Sea; and you might also recognize her from her days of answering questions online as her alter-ego, Ask Deadpool. In her copious spare time, Emily enjoys crafting and cosplay, and looking after the cutest three-legged dwarf hamster in the world, ElliePuff. Oh, and when she's not doing all that, Emily is an active member of The National Press Club and holds down a 9-to-5 as a senior attorney for the federal government - although that may just be her superheroine cover identity.

I don’t know if I can handle all the Marvel movies in a row and then watch The Avengers — but I have been watching ’em on Blu-Ray once a week and I will be there at 12:01 Friday morning!

It will be interesting to read what you thought of the Marathon, and how your brother and sister marathoners handle it. How much popcorn does it take to get through all those movies?

Dan Slott told me he did the same thing – watched them gradually leading up to it. It might be the more sane way to do things…but then again, I am really looking forward to seeing them all on the BIG screen again. Woo!

Heaven knows if we’ll even be walking and talking at the end of the marathon, though. I am totally packing a lunch (and dinner, and water bottles, and ibuprofen) for myself and my friend who’s coming with me!!

There was this classic and amazing three-part science-fiction stage play called Warp (John Heard’s debut; Stuart Gordon directed). It went up in Chicago around 1972 and played for about a year in rep, two episodes a night. It toured, it got sued, it returned for another year’s run in Chicago in 1980.

At the end of each year’s run, the theater company did a Warpathon — all three plays, six acts total, in one sitting. Between each act, a major world-class restaurant supplied another portion of this massive and amazing meal.

I was at both Warpathons. The audience was thrilled, the performers… exhausted. Totally. But brilliant. The closing death scenes were VERY dramatic.

I wonder if the Marvel Marathon will be like that?

That sounds crazy! I’m glad the actors from The Avengers don’t have to do that, heh. But…I do suspect it will add something to see them all on the big screen in a row, as long as our heads don’t explode first. (And I hope there aren’t lots of death scenes!)
