    Sigh. Another man done gone.

  2. Well, I’m saddened by this. I love John Severin’s work…but at least he’s gone to a better place than this ol’Earth of ours.

My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

He was a great one alright and the example of his art, The Deserter, is interesting. It is one of the few Sgt. Fury issues I bought and from what I’ve read about Severin’s politics, he may have had a problem with that story. But he was a professional and I’m sure any personal objection was irrelevant.

George, I was the one who picked that cover. Not because of the politics, but because it was a great story, one that stuck with me over the decades. And John’s work here was among his best — but there’s SO much to chose from. His EC work inked by Willy Elder was brilliant. I’m really happy he was able to continue to work until rather recently.

To whom it may cceonrn.I couldn’t agree with you more. I use to be the biggest fan of Superman and Supergirl and I collected their comic books regularly but I’ve decided to stop after three months of the terrible reboot. There are no original storylines to what’s going on. I should know. I’m a professional writer. I’ve been writing stories for over fourteen years now. I’m close to being able to create my own comic book and when it’s ready I’ll try to release it to the world. I’ve been putting in the appropriate amount of time on it and in case you’re wondering that involves years. Anyway I’m not trying to rant here but I hope when my comic book is ready that I can develop a loyal fan base that knows I will put in the right amount of time on the stories. Hopefully all of us together can get Dc comics to change everything back to the way it was.
