The burst of red in “Spellbound” was present in the print i saw in the 1980s – why was it necessary to “restore” it?

I love NOTORIUS–love the use of the staircase at the end!–but I’m surprised you didn’t mention how Hitchcock got around the Code’s ban on a kiss lasting more than a few seconds, Robert. By having Bergman and Grant talk while they are kissing and devouring each other, Hitchcock not only got around the Code’s ban, but also created one of the most erotic scenes ever! I also enjoy REBECCA, although I’m not a big Joan Fontaine or Olivier fan–I think Dame Judith Anderson is the best part of the movie!

    But SPELLBOUND doesn’t enchant me.
