Okay this Gentile has got a question…

Just WTF is a brisket? :-)

Brisket is a specific cut of beef – it's the cut used as the basis for corned beef.

      WIkipedia says:

Brisket is a cut of meat from the breast or lower chest of beef or veal. The beef brisket is one of the eight beef primal cuts. The brisket muscles include the superficial and deep pectorals. As cattle do not have collar bones, these muscles support about 60% of the body weight of standing/moving cattle. This requires a significant amount of connective tissue, so the resulting meat must be cooked correctly to tenderize the connective tissue.

Brisket can be cooked many ways. Slow and moist cooking methods are common to all.

  2. Sliced Beef. It's real popular in the BBQ states (ie Texas and the South). It's a large piece of Beef that is slow cooked. Thin sliced of beef are cut off the larger piece of meat. It's very tender and very tasty.

  3. One thought about the 52 in general. It was a billed as a new starting point for all of the characters. I feel like in nearly all of the books that I have been dropped into the middle of a story that I have nearly no context for. JLA being the worst of the offenders, but nearly all of the rest were just as bad. The staff seemed to think that everyone knew about the characters and therefore didn't need to do anything to intro their characters. Since this is a "new beginning" there should have been something more that was there. I guess I was looking for the meat of the story and only recieved cheesecake. If the books continue to be this bad, I won't be buying more. I plan on giving them 3 issues to hook me, if they haven't gotten better by then. Well, it will be back to ignoring comic books.

There are a very few i'll give that much chance. The rest?

It appears that the thinking – if it can be called that – is that by starting the story in the middl eof the action and then feeding the backstory in over time, the reader will feel she has an investment in the material.

      Right.

Well, maybe because OMAC is (and always has been) about the lamest basic concept of the lot, nobody would expect much from it.
