I always liked Optimus Primal. I thought that the CGI Ape design had more presence than Oprimus Prime did as a truck.

  2. Dinobot.

He was a complex character who betrayed the Predacons and even the Maximals once. He was a proud warrior who obeyed a strict code of honor that wouldn’t allow him to shoot an enemy in the back or take a cheap win.

His monologue have a very Shakespearean-quality and his banter with fellow Maximal Rattrap was very funny and very touching during his death scene in season 2’s “Code of Hero” (which is one of the most emotional scenes in any “Transformers” series and his considered one of the best episodes in not only “Beast Wars” but in all “Transformers” series by many fans).

  3. My favorite character in Beast Wars has to be Rhinox. As the “science officer” of the Autobots (or Maximals, whatever), he was generally the most peaceful and thoughtful character. Generally relegated to the background, he was the mostly silent savior when battles go too heated. And to boot, he had 2 Gatling guns, which makes him mega-cool (from a kiddy “OOOH, he’s awesome!!!” kinda way). A few times throughout the show, he lost his cool, and became a savage fighter, being able to put even Megatron (yes, yeeeeeessss) in his place.

Eventually, when the series went back to Cybertron, he became a villain, which seemed odd, but still very cool. The idea that the smartest one of the bunch would eventually snap under his own eventual hubris? Tres cool, no?
