It’s Redford, not Detroit. Those of us who live here appreciate the difference, thanks.

  2. Glenn Hauman says:

There are more people who know where Detroit is than Redford. And since the idea was to get any number of people to the store to help them out.

Another local industry landmark closes its doors. I only hope the employees can find decent work. I have wonderful memories of Bill when he worked at Classic (another closed store, a pioneer from the 70s); he was always kind, laid back, helpful, and generous to a fault. I wish him and all the best.

      Hey Mike,
John from Journal of MADness. Long time no talk to. How are you? Do you know how to get in touch with Bill?
I still have a Diamond distribution contract if you ever care to submit something.
      Yours in MADness,

  4. Thank you so much, Glenn, for doing what you could. I just wish we could have done something sooner. Take care and keep fighting the good fight.

Man I’ve been going to this place since 1989. I am really going to miss this place and it’s wonderful staff. I hate that this is happening.

Sad to see. I went by over the weekend, first I heard of the closing. I thought I had been there since 2/8, hope they can get it together. Sad if they can’t.

I remember going there as a kid. When they first were near outer drive. then moved to the Redford location. I miss Bill and Rob

Yup. Went to Archives to buy supplies and look at back issues and it was gone. It really died when Bill left. He is a Detroit legend. If he reads this get hold of me.

  9. I no longer live in the state, but come back every summer. I drove by the spot I THOUGHT the store was located and didn’t see it. So I googled it to see what happened…and here I am. A year and a half too late.

I bought my comics from the Outer Drive store until the habit became too much for my high school aged budget. Although I had one bad encounter–the older gentleman with the grizzled beard kicked me out one day because I did too much reading and not enough buying–I was introduced to The Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, Cerebus, and a number of other brilliant works–through that store. I’m sorry it’s gone. Damn.

one of my favorite comic shops, still miss going there, I also wasn’t able to get a $600 pre-paid order that I put in, I called the tuesday night before they closed and was told I had a lot of stuff to pick up, drove 40 miles one way the next day to see the sign on the door that they were closed, I did save more than 600 bucks at comics archives because they always gave me a 20 percent off discount and I bought a lot of back issues from them that are high grade I hope everyone that worked there is doing well
