Mixed feelings that I’m sure are being shared by others! Ryan Reynolds looks great in the costume! The appearance of Sinestro, Abin Sur, Kilowog, and Hector Hammond definitely appeals to my “inner comic geek,” but I’m getting a little annoyed over the “to Hell with secret identities” trend that these comic book film projects are embracing! Also, is the lady pilot suppose to be Carol Ferris? I thought she ran Ferris Aircraft and her dad was the ex-pilot who founded the company! I guess that idea wasn’t “liberating” enough! Oh well, Summer should be a reasonably fun season despite these annoying “story tweeks.”

Perhaps that idea was a little too complex for the filmmakers to think poor, limited comic book fans to understand.

Despite decades of Superman, Batman, Lone Ranger, Green Hornet, and other superhero adaptations that were built around this premise…but wait, most of them were marketed as “camp,” weren’t they?

Or were you referring to the “liberalization” of Carol Ferris? Yeah, I guess the idea of a woman executive who depends on a man to do a “fearless” job for her would literally be above the heads of “comic book geeks.” My apologies, Hollyweird moguls.

          Yep.

I guess that would mean that if there’s a “Green Lantern II,” Star Sapphire will just be marketed as an evil female Green Lantern-type instead of a twisted take on a “secret wish fulfillment” making Carol vulnerable to gem ala Carol Danvers becoming Ms. Marvel in the comic books. Yeah, that would be “too heavy” wouldn’t it?

I’ve never been a huge GL fan, but the Hal/Carol relationship(from what I know) always seemed to resemble the House/Cuddy relationship to me.
