And then he noticed the young women at the bar for the first time. “I don’t get it,” he said. “Look at those shiksa noses, willya? They’re so small! How can they even breathe out of those things?”What did that have to do with anything? I don’t get it. Was this line supposed to be more sexist or racist? Putting down a whole group of women with an ethnic slur and a off hand comment about their physical appearance seems just casually snide. Were the young women there only as arm candy, eye candy and window dressing? Was that comment supposed to be ironic? Or was that really supposed to make John Sterling look like a giant, warm-water, sexist douche-bag?I don’t know John Sterling, so I won’t call him that. But that’s the way the last paragraph of this article reads.

    • Brandon Barrows says:

John Sterling wasn’t in the story. Richard Manitoba was “John Sterling-like.”

      And relax, it’s a joke.

      • Russ Rogers says:

Oh, you’re right, it was Richard Manitoba, “Handsome Dick.” I was confused. And it was a joke!

        Really?

How was it funny? I know that jokes that you explain aren’t funny. But, seriously, I don’t get that joke. Was this a continuation of Richard’s John Stirling impression? Would John Stirling have said something stupid like that? Because it just sounded like Richard Manitoba was being an ugly dick.
