I don't really like the new costume. But my Great Aunt Debbie is the same age as Wonder Woman, and she doesn't show her boobs anymore, either.

  2. Delmo Walters Jr. says:

I would rather see the return of the outfit she wore while Artemis was Wonder Woman, and Mike Deodato as artist, than this lameness and journeyman Don Kramer as artist.

    • Kevin T Brown says:

I think Don's a damn good artist, definitely not a journeyman. Also, people are so hyper-focused on this change that they're missing the point of the story: It's an alternate timeline. Odds are it'll go back to the way it was with some tweaks once this story runs its course. This is not as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. It's just A story. Just like the Blue Electric Superman was just A story.

      • Mike Gold says:

Kevin, you're taking the fun out of it. All change in comics is permanent — until the next month's solicitation!

  3. Jon Williams says:

Unfortunately, of late DC does not treat its other iconic characters very well either. Superman was out of his costume the last year at least. They may even lose the rights to the character because they're cheap bastards. Batman is dead, no, trapped in the past, no, lost in time as an immortal schizophrenic animal totem guy. So no. Expecting them to hire a writer willing to honor the character's past by not choosing to wipe it out is out of the question. I'm going to pick it up and hope for the best. I hope to be presently surprised but I don't expect to be.

  4. Marc Alan Fishman says:

Treat her like Superman eh' Mike? So we should kill her, let her come back as four imposters, turn her into an electric powered blue and red wonder woman… Then raise paradise island into order, let it be run by lady hades, and fill it with equally powered amazons, and then ultimately blow it up, and let her come back to walk the earth to get her bearings? Or maybe we should treat her like Batman. We can push her to her limit and break her back, let her get replaced by a robotic suited super Wonder Woman who doesn't have the same moral compass only to have her retrace her origin and return by defeating the robo-wonder-woman. Then Darkseid can hit her with a eye-laser-time-teleporter, and she can let Donna Try try on her costume for a while, so we can see cave woman Wonder Woman, Salem Witch Wonder Woman, 50's diner-hop waitress Wonder Woman, and then finally let her come back as the original WW.Point being, like any other STUNT that the major publishers do, this is just another way to get our ire up… and maybe (fingers crossed) sell more books. Mark my words… She'll be back in her one-piece soon enough.

    • Mike Gold says:

Well, that's a good point. And how many of us believe the costume will be back before the the movie is made?Of course, the way things are going, the day they make the Wonder Woman movie will be the right after the day Leni Riefenstahl films the sequel to Exodus.

  5. Kathleen David says:

She's wearing Wonder Girl's costume. So maybe Wonder Girl can start wearing Wonder Woman's costume, since it's not being used..PAD

  6. Miles Vorkosigan says:

If this were being done by any other writer, I'd agree on all points. But it's Joe Straczynski, and he's one of about half a dozen writers in the world I trust not to screw this up. Still, after what he was badgered into doing to Spider-Man in "One More Day", I think we all oughta recite variations of the Shepard's Prayer… "Please, God, don't let him screw this up…"

    • Jason M. Bryant says:

He wasn't badgered into One More Day, he just disagreed about how to do it. JMS has said that he always intended to retcon Gwen Stacy's children out of existence before he finished his run.

      • Sean D. Martin says:

Can't he still? Please? Pretty please?

      • Miles Vorkosigan says:

I must have misread the thing in the back of OMD. It felt to me like he didn't wanna retcon things, and it was an editorial thing. My personal feeling was, and still is, that what was done was in effect to wipe out decades of character growth and maturity. All for the sake of increased sales. In my case, it didn't work.

        • Jason M. Bryant says:

Apparently JMS had it all worked out so that they could change one moment in time, long ago in the life of Peter Parker, and all the changes that Marvel wanted would spread out through the timeline from that. The disagreement was that Marvel didn't want to change that much stuff, putting everything that had happened since the late sixties in question. So basically, JMS was all aboard for a big ret-con, he just wanted the changes to be *bigger* than what Marvel wanted. The primary disagreement came from the mechanics of it. JMS believed that magic had to make sense and have rules, even if the rules are not directly shown. Quesada just said, "It's magic!" and felt that was license to do whatever they wanted. That's why JMS believe he needed to have it all worked out as a big ripple from that one change in time, while Marvel wanted to go with something that didn't strictly follow any logic, but caused less changes.

    • Mike Gold says:

Gail Simone was doing a great job. Don't get me wrong, JMS is a fine writer, but I didn't see the need for a change.

  7. Jason M. Bryant says:

I don't think it's such a big deal. The costume change is directly tied to a story, a story that involves her past being changed and her trying to change it back. It seems pretty clear that this is a temporary change.Spider-Man's costume is iconic, but I loved the black costume. Even before the Venom stories, I just loved it. So I don't think there's anything wrong with a temporary costume change, not even of an iconic character.

  8. Neil Robertson says:

To my way of thinking, the costume change is being done for filmmakers. No actress wants to be saddled with that costume (willing, perhaps, if success is assured) and if DC can make enough of a short-term splash with the new outfit, they may finally get that Wonder Woman movie made.

    • Brandon Barrows says:

That's actually a really good thought, and I wouldn't doubt there's some level of truth to it.

    • Sean D. Martin says:

The original costume is rather America-centric if you're looking to make a movie that's globally successful.Or so I've heard one line of reasoning goes.

    • Miles Vorkosigan says:

Are they still angling for a movie? I thought that died with Whedon's departure. For thiose who are interested, Mark "Ambush Bug" Miller has an interview with JMS over on AICN. Here's the link. If it'll take… http://www.aintitcool.com/node/45650

  9. I’d hit that.
