must comment on Children’s Hour…you stated “Audrey Hepburn, and Shirley MacLaine – notable that two acclaimed adult actresses played lovers.” They didn’t play lovers, they were friends accused of being lovers by a small minded town. Granted in the end Shirley character was forced to face her homosexual feelings toward her friend and in the end the tragedy born of this country’s refusal to accept anything other than heterosexuality as well as how gossip and lies can destroy the innocent but they did not play “lovers”.
