Thor and Captain America Costumes Revealed
Marvel Studios has essentially confirmed that the production drawings for the costumes circulating online this week are accurate. So, we present a look at how Chris Hemsworth will appear as the God of Thunder, Thor, and Chris Evans will be seen as the Star-Spangled Avenger.
War helmet or it ain’t Thor.
Same for Cap’s wings…
I think the Thor stuff looks Photoshopped.
Well, yeah – considering that the costumes probably don’t exist yet (judging from other articles).
Thor looks Photoshopped? Considering that the second and third Cap pics are Jim Lee art overlays from X-Men 268, and the fourth is an Epting overlay from the latest Captain America #1, it’s less worrisome that they’re photoshopped, and more worrisome what they’re photoshopped FROM.I mean, Steve Epting has a pretty good contract right now, and Jim Lee certainly isn’t hurting for money–but the principle here stands: A movie studio has used artists’ work for concept/production work and for promotion, with neither credit nor recompense.(and the ideas that Marvel is:A} doing this for movies which will be big blockbusters, andB} doing this using the artwork of their main competitor’s current (co-)publisher just brings it to a whole ‘nother level of Stupid …)

Thor’s costume doesn’t look very viking-like. It sort of looks like he’s wearing rubber pants. Don’t Asgardians generally wear stuff made out of animal skins?

Ew, Ultimates costumes. No thanks.

As a current, former, longtime fan of Marvel and its characters, I admit that the new look heroes (especially Captain America) was eye-opening. I was long used to the heroes wearing costumes (spandex or whatever, chainmail etc.) and I probably wondered from time to time how they could do what they did while wearing such “flimsy” footwear etc. It makes sense for Cap to be wearing Army style boots (or steel-toed) as long as they are also comfortable to run in.
Thor also has long been known for not wearing a helmet. Why else would some call him “goldilocks”? The depictions of the heroes look fine to me.
I hope that Marvel will do a better job casting these next films than those who cast the Green Hornet. That film was anticipated for years and did it even break even? Seth Rogen(?) as the Hornet’s alter-ego? I didn’t see the film as it seemed to quickly disappear but it appeared to be rather juvenile.
