Hugo Award Winners 2009: Gaiman wins Best Novel, ‘Girl Genius’ wins Best Graphic Story
Last night, the annual Hugo awards, given for excellence in the field of science fiction and fantasy and voted on by the fans, were presented at Anticipation in Montreal, Canada. I could bore you with the history of the awards, notable past winners (and losers), famous acceptance speeches, and so on and so forth. But you know all that (And if you don’t, their website is pretty informative).
What you’re waiting for are the winners, and here they are, straight from the horse’s mouth:

Someone please remind me: in which Dramatic Presentation category was Steven Moffatt’s DOCTOR WHO story SILENCE IN THE LIBRARY/FOREST OF THE DEAD? I’m hoping it was Long-Form. It hurts less to see it lose to WALL-E rather than DR HORRIBLE’S SING-A-LONG.
I think that, since it’s part of an episodic teevee series, it probably counts as Short Form.
Doctor Who was in Short Form. It was presented by Paul Cornell. When announcing the winner, he paused after the Word "Doctor," since three of the five nominees had that as the first word.
Just a note that the Hugo photo you are using was the 2008 Hugo. This year's is quite different in appearance.
Yeah, but we didn't have one at press time. The joy of covering multiple conventions…
