There's already a comic blog meme by the name Friday Night Fights, shared among many blogs, currently coordinated by http://www.spacebooger.com/

So there is… but they're just looking for the best one panel punch of the week, no? (Which is silly, because nobody can beat Chris Sims's logo at the Invincible Super Blog.)We're going for deeper philosophical issues here. Questions for the ages. After all, we've already determined who's stronger, Thing or the Hulk. (The Hulk, obviously. Thing is only a single hand.)

One million Triskelion Quatloos on the Vulcan! He's got a phaser.

    • Glenn Hauman says:

Can a phaser disintergrate Wolverine, or would he regenerate too quickly? We can assume a phaser won't do anything to the adamantium skeleton…

      • Russ Rogers says:

I don't think even Wolverine could regenerate after having his flesh demolecularized off his adamantium skeleton by a phaser, not unless he's also connected to the morphogenetic field like Animal Man. I think Wolverine's best bet lies in using his Ninja Skills to hide in the Jeffries Tubes and springing some kind of sneak attack. My Quatloos remain on the Vulcan.

To be blunt, Wolvie is ridiculously durable, and vastly above what either of Spock's actors have portrayed in terms of agility. The odds of him being hit and entirely incapacitated by a phaser blast before he can close to melee range are incredibly low.Once he gets close, Spock is nowhere near the peak of comic book human potential (let alone a crazy mutant clawman with unbreakable metal bones and a century of combat experience) leaving him to be instantly gutted like a particularly gut-filled thin-skinned fish.If it's a battle of coolness however, Spock need merely raise an eyebrow to win.

  4. Marc Alan Fishman says:

In the battle, I imagine Wolverine is far superior in his agility, and he would not likely run head on at Spock. The phaser itself would be sliced in twain. But Spock is privvy to advanced forms of unarmed combat, and unlike Wolverine…. can control his anger. Wolverine, frustrated that numerous swipes with his stubby clawed arms are missing the lankier Vulcan…. eventually lets out an angry cry. Spock, feeling like this is going on to long sidesteps Wolverine one last time, and gives him the ole' Vulcan neck pinch, and Wolverine falls limp. Spock picks up the pieces of his phaser, and ponders what sort of Alien would have metallic claws like this. Then, a little mutant regeneration kicks in, and six claws tear a surprised Spock into itty-bitty pieces. Battle winner: Wolverine.

Sorry man. I am burned out on Wolverine and how unbeatable they've made him. A phaser should be able to bring him down, but unfortunately even a kill setting would probably not be enough in today's comics. Remember that Havok's cosmic power, or Cyclops' eye beams can't burn him fast enough to overcome his healing factor. Yeah, they level mountains but not Wolverine. Love it or hate it, it's just the way it is sports fans.So like it or not. Spock would lose. Badly. Wouldn't last a full round. Don't imagine Logan would sit tight while he performed a mind-meld. His only chance would be the Vulcan nerve pinch. But by the time he got close enough to touch Wolverine, he'd already be green jello.

    • Marc Alan Fishman says:

Roland, I agree with you actually. In the beginning, Wolvie had a healing factor…Today I would call it immediate regeneration. There was a time you shot Wolverine and he'd be down a day or two (where a normal human might take 4-5 days to recover…)… And yes, now a days… he basically is impervious to real injury. But this does play well into the current Marvel framework. Each time Logan sheds a drop or two of blood, the blood forms a new Wolverine to star in another book. He's already in what…. 18 of them?

Yeah I agree with some of the other comments, wolverines healing powers are just out of control……..I finally came to this conclusion after reading a comic (I wouldnt say it was more than a year or two ago, where wolvie was fighting nitro, and nitro exploded wolvie down to his bones…..literaly!!! I mean all that was left was a metal skeleton, and who knows maybe a scrap of DNA on the bottom of his foot or something, and of course wolverine was healed enough to step up and kick nitro's butt within (I dont know, hard to tell the exact passage of time in comics) , but the way it was portrayed it was anywhere from just a couple of minutes to no longer than 20 mins! I mean where is the tension when a hero that is basically unkillable!!! Actually there was an issue I read sometime between then and now that had a strange and hard to follow(and remember for that matter, it wasnt one of the better issues)story where Wolverine fought the angle of death for some reason—?!?!?!?!? and anyway somehow and in someway by the end of the issue it was implied that wolverines healing factor which had grown to make him basically industructable, was now somewhat lessened. I dont recall any issues after that though where this was brought up really again so Im not sure if they are going to expand much with the idea, or if there just gonna pretend that issue diddnt happen. Anyway as for Spock—–A phaser set on kill/disintergrate would prob. just leave an adamantium skeleton so that means Wolvie would just pop back up all healed and even meaner eventualy (unless his healin' ability really IS less now IE that issue I mentioned—who knows?) So in a completely fair one on one fight- even considering Spock's vulcan physiology which means that he might be a lot stronger than wolverine, its doubtfull that Spock would stand a chance – his one desperate chance would be his good old Vulcan Neck Pinch, but he'd have to be pretty fancy to pull that in a fight with Wolverine , and it seems unlikely. Plus then what would he do if he did do it? *logic* would dictate that he take the couple of minutes it would give him to take an axe and hope he can swing it with enought skill to slice between 2 adamantium vertebrea and sever wolvies head, but this seems incredibly unlikely. However who ever said it had to be a fair fight. Spock, im sure had learned enough about cheating death from Kirk that he could simply call the enterprise and……:"Scotty , would you please beam mr. Logan into the heart of the nearest sun before my starfleet uniform gets too terribly stained with my blood, after all green blood is so terribly difficult to wash out" "why it'd be me pleasure ta send tha' little hairy bastard inta tha heart of Hades, fer ya mr spock!" "No reason to resort to poetics mr Scotty, I do suggest that you hurry however. this particular human seems unusually illogical and emotional" "Aye aye, mr Spock"PS Why the *%*# did I just spend the last 20 minutes writing a reply to a question about who would win in a fight between Spock and Wolverine?!?!?!?!?!? Its things like this that make me wonder if I am indeed a bit of a geek…………..
