ComicMix Quick Picks – February 20, 2009
Today’s list of quick items that don’t fill a full post on their own:
- This online TV thing really is taking off: Lost Finds 1.4 Million Viewers On ABC.com. Read the entire thing and get a look at how the TV landscape is changing, and more importantly, how the new rules don’t apply any more.
- With newspapers downsizing, even Clark Kent can be laid off. See Robert Cass, Rob Tornoe, Matt Manochio, and David Willis.
- Spent some time poking around PODcomix, which does fine art prints from a number of comics pros. Here’s where you can buy the Nexus painting.
- A Giant Midwest Mecca of Action Figures in Oklahoma from Wired. Also: How Comics Can Save Us From Scientific Ignorance.
- And sadly, Chuck Crayne, a major figure in the history of science fiction conrunning, passed away on Monday, February 16, on his 71st birthday. File 770 has a great writeup of who he was and what he accomplished.
Anything else? Consider this an open thread.
I skulked around on podgallery.com for a while. They have the same price structure for every artist! (Over) A 1952 Art Frahm will cost you the same as a current Steve Rude print! By the way, Art Frahm seems to have had a fetish not just for drawing women with panties around their ankles, usually carry grocery bags with celery. It's a very specific fetish. He drew the SAME pair of pink with white frill trim panties on nearly every one of his Pin-Ups! Not the same woman, but they all shared the same panties! A guy with a pink panty and grocery bag with celery fetish? And he was considered a Master? http://www.podgallery.com/index.cfm/hurl/msgId=54…
I think I will stick to my Steve Rude print over Art Frahm prints of a woman with pink frill trim panties at her feet and a so called "celery fetish" !
Speaking of NEXUS, does anyone know when the next two issues of NEXUS: A SPACE OPERA is coming out? It's been ages since the last issue came out.
Steve Rude has finshed the art for issues 101 and 102 BUT is waiting on the inks on 102 to be finshed before lining up a new release date for them if you wanted an ashcan of 102 goto steverudeart.com where you canpick one up
