Midway Games, publisher of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, files for bankruptcy
Storm clouds are indeed on the horizon. Technologizer reports that Midway Games filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy yesterday.
Chairman, President and CEO Matt Booty called the filing “a difficult but necessary decision,” adding that it buys the company time to figure out how to proceed from here. For now, business continues as usual, and Midway has filed several First Day Motions in hopes of keeping it that way as restructuring takes place.
Midway Games Inc., the creator of the Mortal Kombat video-game series, most recently came out with Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.
Heroic brutality = moral bankruptcy, so they were already on their way down.
Ahhh – the trolls gather.
Anonymously, of course.
Doesn't surprise me in the least. Midway has had a hundful of truly "quality" titles, and none of them are in recent memory. Mortal Kombat vs DCU was a shameful 'kollision' of 'koncepts' that should have been left 'klosed' in some 14 years old's notebook from 1997. I personally miss the Capcom 2d fighters, and hope the resurgence of interest with Street Fighter 4 coming out leads to a Capcom neo-2d Marvel Vs. Capcom series, or in my wet dreams… Marvel vs. DC in cel-shaded glory.Simply put, Midway always shot for the lowest common denominators in their releases, and they need to be put to rest. FINISH THEM!
