I know Obama is a fan of Conan and Spider-Man, but that article HAS to be a joke, right?

Forget it. I'm sure it's a joke. Frankly, I can't believe I thought it might not be a joke even for a second.

I am very Not Happy at the news that they're going ahead with Voyage of the Dawn Treader – the first film wasn't bad, the second was Pretty Bad, and, if the progression continues in the same direction (as is typical of Hollywood series), the third is probably going to approace "Sucks dead rat. Through a straw."

I'm hoping they finish adapting all 5 Narnia books left. ;-)

I would like to see the whole series adapted. Hopefully, they'll learn from the mistakes of the second film and make a good third film.

Well, I've never been able to figure out how they'd adapt "The Last Battle" in a way that would be faithful and yet acceptable to film audiences. I mean, "And everyone died and went to heaven, except for Susan, who was condemned for the mortal sin of Being a Teenager, and isn't it wonderful?" Some things you can put in a book but not in a film. The weasel ending to the film "The Golden Compass" (which if done properly would be an anti-Narnia film) proved that. I'm glad that they dropped that series, because what they'd have to do to "The Amber Spyglass" to make it acceptable ("And Preteen Sex Saved the World. The End.") would really have made me angry.

I'm sure they could do it in a rather vague manner which readers of the book would recognize but the regular film audience would not see as overly controversial (although people gripe about anything these days) such as everyone ascends to a wonderful (unnamed) place but Susan chooses to stay behind. It wouldn't be ideal, but it would probably work for most people.
