    They played it safe. Oh, to be a BBC showrunner… I'd have cast somebody completely weird. Like Sam Troughton, or Noel Clarke. Let the Doctor wake up looking like Mickey the Idiot… or turn him into a woman. A really, really hot woman… but keep the female companion. Get a buncha lesbian subtext in there… or drive away my entire audience and cast a rotund, fiftyish American porno actor in the role… Ron Jeremy as the Doctor! (hee!)Miles
