    Please No!

  2. Tom Fitzpatrick says:

Please yes!or at least, Halle Berry, or Eva Mendes, or Angelina Jolie. To name, a few. ;-)

  3. Russ Rogers says:

Beyonce' would be great. Plus, the soundtrack would get an instant hit song or two.

  4. elon says:

The studio is rushing to do it because it's generated such buzz online, her wanting to do it…but that's because people find it ABSURD. .

"Take it over the TOP! Be serious. Be campy. Just get the movie MADE already!"Why "get the movie made already"? Under the conditions you describe I would rather it never be made. I don't understand the desire for a movie under any circumstances.Wonder Woman is white because that is how she has been portrayed for her entire history. Black Amazons have been featured in the comic. Diana was not one of them. Halle Berry's Catwoman was not Selina Kyle. She was not THE Catwoman and that movie was apparently made just as an attempt to cash in on the character's name. Eartha Kitt also played Catwoman but stunt casting was least of that show's problems.

  5. Marc Alan Fishman says:

Sorry, Ms. Knowles isn't exactly what I'd call a true thespian… Stunt casting like that (or Ms. Halle as Catwoman) only yields crappy results in my opinion.

  6. George Haberberger says:

"A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It's time for that, right?"Uh… no. It's politically-correct stunt-casting and it's wrong.

    • Russ Rogers says:

What's politically correct about it? We've had a black Catwoman. That was a disaster, but not because Halle Berry was black. Watch the video for "Survivor." Beyonce' IS an Amazonian Superhero! The woman can sing, she can act, she's one of the BEST songwriters of the last decade, plus she's smart and SMOKING HOT. Who cares if it's stunt casting! It would SELL tickets (gazillions of tickets) and put a STRONG Wonder Woman on the screen. The more I think about it, the better this idea seems. Why does Wonder Woman have to be white? (Is that the "politically correct" question?) She comes from a Tropical Island. She's from a race of mythical Amazons. What makes them all white?Run with the stunt casting. Cast Prince as Dr. Psycho! Cast Britney Spears as Cheetah. Pink as Cyborgirl. Christina Aguillera could be Silver Swan. Let them ALL sing! Let them all write their own songs. (Prince probably has all the songs written already, locked away in his vaults.) Turn the whole production into a Musical. Take it over the TOP! Be serious. Be campy. Just get the movie MADE already!

  7. Dave says:

Wonder Woman has been a white Greek woman for nearly 70 years. There's no reason to change her now. Beyonce is hot, but she just doesn't have the "look" to play Wonder Woman. She won't be recognized by most people (who visualize Wonder Woman as Linda Carter) as Wonder Woman. Now, if she were to be cast as Nubia (a stupid name – but Wonder Woman's sister), that would be something else …

  8. Ipyrat says:

Olivia Munn needs to be Wonder Woman.Heyolivia.com

  9. Mica says:

I think Scarlett Johanson would be an awesome Wonder Woman.I think she's proven she has what it takes to be taken seriously as an actress b/c of Monster and she's already acted in a superhero movie Hancock. She is from Africa so she is exotic enough from the role. All she would need to do is dye her hair.Ever since the Dark Knight came out I think all comicbook movies have to step it up and make it more real and I think she has what it takes to take Wonder Woman there. While we are on the subject I think Angelina Jolie would be ideal for Catwoman.Lets just pretend that the remake with Halle Berry never happened like when did when they did the Hulk over and it was AWESOME I might add. Edward Norton….GENIUS! But back to the subject as hand.Angelina is beautiful in a very dark exotic way. Her character Fox in Wanted is very much what I envision Catwoman to be like.A bad ass.

  10. Rick Taylor says:

It's as bad an idea as Halle Berry was for Catwoman.

    • Russ Rogers says:

It wasn't (just) Halle Berry that made the movie, "Catwoman," bad. And it certainly wasn't the fact that Halle Berry is black. Eartha Kitt was black and played Catwoman. No big deal. Julie Newmar was my favorite Catwoman, but that's beside the point. The point is, Catwoman's race was never integral to the character. It didn't matter if she was black or white. And the Batman TV show was ALL about stunt casting.Let's look at Nick Fury. Who would you rather have play Nick Fury, David Hasselhoff or Samuel L. Jackson. Nick Fury had always been portrayed as a white man. But producers cast Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury in Iron Man. Why? Because he's tough and cool. And now the image of the Marvel Ultimate Nick Fury is based on Samuel L. Jackson! Things change. Now, I wouldn't cast Mark Wahlberg as Power Man, Luke Cage, the Hero for Hire. Luke Cage is black. It's central to the character's dynamic. The same goes for Black Panther, Silver Sable or Emma Frost, the White Queen, their ethnicity is part of the character. You can't cast a black woman as the White Queen. Cloak and Dagger are a black man and a white woman. What is integral to the character of Wonder Woman? She's strong. A feminist. And she has a weakness for bondage, but it's too late to cast Bettie Page as Wonder Woman. Race was never a major factor in the character. She's a member of a mythical group of women, living on a hidden mythical island.Look at the video for "Independent Woman" (the Chalie's Angels theme) by Destiny's Child. Like many of Beyonce's hits, the song has a strong feminist viewpoint. The video even has Beyonce' doing super-heroics! Beyonce' has made a career from writing songs with a STRONG, independent, feminist view. She is an ideological "Wonder Woman."Now, I'm not saying that Beyonce' is perfect for the role. You can argue that she's not muscular enough or tall enough to play Wonder Woman. But you have to have a serious lack of imagination to argue that she's "too black" for the part.

      • Rick Taylor says:

Julie Newmar is my fave Catwoman, too.Halle Berry looked hot, the script sucked.Wonder Woman NEEDS to look like a greek goddess.Lynda Carter made a good TV Wonder Woman because she had that 30's-40's starlet look.It worked with the period nature of the show.

        • mike weber says:

Halle Berry looked hot, the script sucked. There were rumours that Berry's rear elevation was somewhat … eh … "elevated" with CGI, sort of the same way in reverse that Disney gave Lindsay Lohan a computerised breast reduction in that "Love Bug" film. And somewhat stronger (and plausible) rumours that, just as Esther Willims' dives and Diana Rigg's skiing (in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service") were done by slender stuntmen wearing falsies, so was much of the action that some fanboys thought was so hot and sexy in "Carwoman"…(When i heard that, was immediately reminded of Peter David's column years ago, about the time a fan dressed as the Pfeiffer Catwoman at a con just after the release of Batman Returns, and, at their request, posed with the DC people who were there for photos{it was a very well-done costume}. Then the DC people found out that "Catwoman" was really "Cat-Guy-Dressed-as-a-Woman" and got their knickers in a twist and {as i recall} demanded that "she" either take off the cstume or be ejected from the convention. As Peter ponted out, these were people whose company's most recent origin for the character was as a lesbian professional dominatrix with an underage-prostitute live-in girlfriend … and they were upset because a guy dressed up as her?)

      • Delmo Walters Jr. says:

Bryan Hitch based the look of Ultimate Nick Fury on Samuel Jackson. Jon Favreau was influenced by that to cast Jackson. The comic came before the movie.

        • Russ Rogers says:

It's THIS kind of cool insight into comics trivia that makes ComicMix so much fun! Thanks, Delmo.

  11. russ carreiro says:

I always though Demi Moore is about the only woman who could have pulled off Wonder Woman. The concept, as done in the comics, is pretty silly and will just not translate to a movie. I know a lot of people see it otherwise, but they have got to be careful how they cast it. Beyonce cannot act and black or white she just isnt fitting the role. I think the pics of Megan Fox were pretty interesting. Not sure if she could do it either. Give me Demi Moore in her 30s or even early 40s and it works but right now I cant see anyone pulling it off. Maybe Angelina Jolie but even thats a stretch.

  12. Adriane Nash says:

Why would it have to be a big star?? Why couldn't they look for an actress that fits the part, then make her a star???I love Christian Bale as an actor. I love his Batman. But I did not go see Batman Begins or The Dark Knight because he was behind the cowl. And while he is a top notch actor I don't think he's in the same star constellation as a Brad Pitt.I've argued this offsite: but George & co are right: Wonder Woman is white, she the human (ok amazonian) reflection of the greek pantheon of goddesses. They've shown us Amazons of various skins tones, Diana has never been shown as one of them!I'm sorry, WW is near & dear ot my heart. The 1st comic I ever bought off the spinner rack was a Wonder Woman and I still collect the title today. I'd love to see the movie mad e but I want it made right "not just made already!" I was hoping the Joss Whedon project would have gotten off the ground.

  13. Marc Alan Fishman says:

Russ…. "Watch the video for "Survivor." Beyonce' IS an Amazonian Superhero! The woman can sing, she can act, she's one of the BEST songwriters of the last decade, plus she's smart and SMOKING HOT." I did watch that video. 1. She "writes songs" the same way she "plays guitar" as in… she doesn't. She can act in a comedy like Austin Powers, which basically requires she don an afro and snap her fingers and recite qwippy dialogue enough for Mike Myers to oogle her. If Wonder Woman is to be a "franchise" for DC, they needn't stunt cast… just to put butts in seats. That was Batman Forever… and Batman Forever sucked. What they need to do is get a good script first… and then cast based on that script.

    • Russ Rogers says:

Beyonce' won the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year in 2001. She was only the second woman to win that award. She has won multiple Grammy Awards. She has co-written a string of hit songs. You don't have to like her songs, but you can't question their commercial success. If you judge "BEST" as commercial success or the respect of her peers, she's certainly one of the best. She may not play the guitar, but you can't question her skills, commercial and critical success as a songwriter. She got good reviews in "Dreamgirls," holding her own opposite Jennifer Hudson's superior, Oscar winning performance. She has large roles in two more upcoming. dramatic features, "Cadillac Records" and "Obsessed." All three of those movies aren't comedies. So I don't think you can relegate her acting credentials to just comedy, like Austin Powers, Pink Panther or Fighting Temptations. By the way, she did win an Image Award for Best Actress for Fighting Temptations. She can act, better than just passably. The funny thing is, I'm not a big fan of Beyonce' Knowles. Her singing style is what I call, "A Trip to Melisma City!" Every extended note has to be turned into a mind numbing series of trills and runs. Melody and any emotional connection with the song are generally sacrificed for a display of vocal gymnastics. It's a very popular singing style (Mariah, Celine, Britney, Christina, Jessica, Rhianna), so maybe I'm just an old fuddy-duddy.There may be lots of choices for Wonder Woman better than Beyonce'. She doesn't have the muscularity or stature that I would associate with the role. And she is a light skinned black woman. But I don't think any of those things should preclude from playing the part. She can put on the muscle. Plenty of actors have done that for roles. And I think the audience would not be put off by her race. To me, her blackness is just not that big a deal. Here's my suggestion. Ask Beyonce' to write and sing two songs for the movie; the chase-music, action, opening title theme; and the end credits, slow ballad, love song. Then, CAST Beyonce' as Cheetah or Circe! Let her chew up the scenery as the super-villain. Leak it to the press that she's been cast in "Wonder Woman," but let them speculate as to the role for a while. Then you get all the benefits of Beyonce's Star Power, the box office draw, the instant hit song, without taking the risk of casting her in the lead role.

      • Marc Alan Fishman says:

All good points Russ, I would concede her "talent" is probly more than I give her credit for… Ultimately, for me, she just isn't "wonder woman" material.

      • Adriane Nash says:

I don't want my villian chewing the scenery. I want zero camp thank you very much. Spacey made me want to throw things at screen throughout Superman Returns!

        • Russ Rogers says:

Give me an example of a subtle, underplayed Super-Villain. Nickelson? Nope. Hackman, Pfeifer, Carey? I don't think so. Heath Ledger may get an Oscar nod for his portrayal of the Joker. It certainly won't be because his tongue waggling performance was nuanced or restrained.I don't think you can dress a grown woman in a red, white and blue bathing suit; metal, bullet-deflecting bracelets and red go-go boots and expect "zero camp." It's just not going to happen.Super-Villains are by definition scenery-chewing vehicles of melodrama. That said, I think it works best if you don't play it "tongue in cheek" or just for laughs. And maybe that's what you meant by "camp." Ledger's Joker is over-the-top creepy, violent and disturbing. It's all melodrama, but not very funny.

          • Adriane Nash says:

Super-villains by whose definition besides yours? You can be light without going campy. Scenery chewing should not be an acceptable performance, EVER. You can play mad, menacing & believable.I don't think Spacey was going funny but the performance was laughable. I am not the one clamoring for the movie to be made. Comics are a medium that doesn;t always translate well into live action, but an easy way to avoid campiness it to create a world where heroes aren't so singular in each film. If you can't create a world where the costume is plausable then leave her in the pages of my books, because her costuming is an integral part of her not-campy origin story, she's an ambassador, she's honoring us by wearing our country's colors & the books have addressed that the sexualization of the flag was unintentional, Amazons don't carry the same shames we do.The Joker is on over-the-top character in all mediums. And Nickelson & Ledger each played him menacingly in very different ways. He's the Clown Prince of Crime & uses smiley gas, apples meet my oranges.Sandman, Venom & Green Goblin were all not campy. Batman Returns is an excellent Tim Burton film, but not an excellent superhero movie.

  14. Tom Fitzpatrick says:

I just love these comments!Everybody's got an opinion! How about Rebecca Gayheart?Opine away!

  15. Tom Fitzpatrick says:

Remember Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark?Everybody said he couldn't pull it off.

    • Adriane Nash says:

My problem is more with Beyonce not being white and less her acting chops. That said, she can barely sell me hairdye with any believability, but I'm holding out to see further dramatic roles to say "the girl really can't act" personally, I don;t think she "held her own" with the rest of the cast in Dreamgirls- she seemed to always have one whimpy tone & I never saw her character as anything other than "the pretty one" she came off about as deep as a puddle. However Downey is a well respected actor & has been for a couple of decades now, it was more seeing him go action then be able to pull off playboy genius.

    • Rick Taylor says:

You'd have to surround Gayheart with a bunch of midgets who are skinnier (if possible) than her.I shared an elevator ride with her once and she make Eva Longoria look massive.

  16. Micha says:

    Jennifer Conelley?Thora Birch?

    • Rick Taylor says:

Je would look great. She'd never do it.

      • Russ Rogers says:

Jennifer Conelly did the Comic Book thing once. And was spectacular. But now? I hate to say this, but she's too old, especially if you are talking a series of sequels. I think the producers need to look for an actress in her 20s to early 30s.

  17. Russ Rogers says:

Gina Curano. She's a Mixed Martial Arts Champion and "Crush" on American Gladiators. She's got the look. Sho'nuf do be cookin' in my book. Her face is jammin', her body's heck-a-slammin'. In other words, she has the physicality the role needs. And she's a genuine bad ass. But I'm not sure she has the experience, acting chops or charisma to pull off Wonder Woman.Judge for yourself. Meet Gina Curano: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F73B_HY7L2k[BTW, what the heck-a-slammin' is "heck-a-slammin'"? If you know Prince, please ask him for me.]]

  18. JOHN says:

BEYONCE AS WONDER WOMAN? NO,NOAND NO. IF SHE WANTS TO PLAY A SUPERHERO LET IT BE STORM.

  19. danicienta@live.com says:

wonder woman is not black woman so please not put black woman to do the movie, dont insutl lynda carter whit black wonder woman

  20. danger d says:

there only one wonder woman thats lynda carter who looks like her and no not kim k eva menders maybe jen g play eketra i like beyonce but she should stay in muisc find a woman who looks like lynda carter i will see the movie but lynda carter will always be my wonderwoman

  21. Anonymous says:

    megan fox = wonder woman

  22. wonderwomancm says:

I've been a Wonder Woman fan all my life. And, please, no one take offense, she is white and it is central to her character. This was the first and only comic book I've ever bought. I loved the TV show with Lynda Carter, but it was campy. It needs to be modernized to build a franchise, yet stay true to the original story to get the die hard fans to the theater. I think Jessica Beal would be a good fit. She proved she could bulk up for a part and play physical roles. I also saw someone mention Catherine Zeta-Jones. She's not a bad idea either.

  23. Anonymous says:

Ok how about this suggestion? Lucy Lawless – She would be a major kick ass wonder women!!!!!!

  24. Anonymous says:

I've been a WW fan since forever and I hope they cast a younger woman 20-21 to play the role. It would be great if this was a 3 or more movie deal someone in their 30's would be to old looking by the 3rd one Diana is ageless remember and please as fine as Halle and Caterine Zeta are come on man they are 40+. A black woman would be great, white women don't age too well.

  25. borinmusic says:

OMG! Beyonce could never protray Wonder Woman, she isn't tall enough, fit enough and can't act. The racial issue is out of the picture. But you have to portray big characters as WW as has been known for decades. Why never though of making Superman black, maybe Tyson Beckford would be a good Superman but the character is too iconic to made those changes or having Storm as perform by a white actress! see? is nothing about race but to be truth to the character. My ideal Wonder Woman would be Kate Beckingsale, Milla Jovovich or Charlize Theron, all are good in action movies, are tall and are goood actresses. If none of them I say go with an unknown, there are a lot of ex-misses tall with blue eyes which are aspiring actresses. Maybe there are a couple ones who can act. If one is blonde, no problem dye her hair. Not Lynda Carter or Christopher Reeve were famous before their big chance. And finally, cast Lynda Carter as Hyppolita! Is the right thing to do and she has earned it!

  26. borinmusic says:

Someone wrote that Scarlett Johanson star Hancock, it was Charlize Theron! As long as I know Scarlett is too short as well as Caterine Zeta Jones (who BTW has become old for the role). Remember, WW is an ageless immortal princess and I believe should be someone in her late 20's early 30's. Not Sandra Bullock (who doesn't look fresh), Megan Fox (she is way too sexual for the role and too short too!) or Jessica Biel (she looks too hot mama) are adequate. The character is too iconic that even an unknown actress would be enough to portray princess Diana, as long as would be a good actress and has the pressence!

  27. Anonymous says:

well i just watched the trailer and great news for some they cast an over rated seen way to much actress for the roll Angelina Jolie so basicaly its now just tomb raider in an american flag swimsuit double thumbs down alot of younger actresses out there that could have been WAAAAAY better…
