Robert Greenberger is best known to comics fans as the editor of Who's Who In The DC Universe, Suicide Squad, and Doom Patrol. He's written and edited several Star Trek novels and is the author of The Essential Batman Encyclopedia. He's known for his work as an editor for Comics Scene, Starlog, and Weekly World News, as well as holding executive positions at both Marvel Comics and DC Comics.

    I WELL remember this series and, I think, have written about it before. The fact that Pettigrew was African-American was kept from the reader until the very last chapter — up until then he was a silhouette. This was in the late 50s remember and was set ion he year 1999. It also featured one heck of a cliffhanger for one episode. One of my fave series from back in those days.

    I'd like to correct two small but important errors: First, the strip ran in 1964 and the election was originally set in 1972. It was later reset in 1976. Second Pope Pius XI reigned from 1922-1939 so he had nothing to do with the request. The reference was probably to Pope Pius XII who reigned from 1939-1958, so even the likelihood of his influence is doubtful. Pope John XXIII, however, reigned from 1958-1963 and was most likely the one who influenced the creation of the strip.
