New ‘Star Trek’ Photos Revealed
Bones McCoy might not be a magician, but someone at Paramount is casting a spell over the internet as the studio unveils several new photos from the upcoming Star Trek reboot. The photos were divvied out by the company to different Web sites, and are also featured in the recent issue of Entertainment Weekly. The magazine has an exclusive cover depicting James Kirk (Chris Pine) and Mr. Spock (Zachary Quinto), the stars of the upcoming film.
This is the second time this year that Paramount has deliberately distributed production stills online for their movies. Earlier this year, Paramount assigned different character portraits from G.I. Joe to carefully chosen Web sites, including IGN and Latino Review.
MTV has the first look at the bridge of the USS Enterprise. Featured from left to right are James Kirk, Dr. McCoy (Karl Urban), an extraneous crew member, Mr. Spock and Hikaru Sulu (John Cho).
Ain’t It Cool News‘ picture shows Spock putting another character in a choke hold. The character looks quite a bit like Kirk, but why would Spock be hurting his good friend? Time will tell.
The first look at the film’s villain goes to JoBlo.com. Eric Bana plays Nero, the villainous Romulan who has his sights on a very specific, fan favorite individual…
TrekMovie.com shows an attack on the USS Kelvin, a ship that plays an important role in the new film. The Kelvin was also featured in Armada II, a video game set within the TNG timeline.
Next up is IGN‘s photo featuring Kirk in an arctic crater doing his best Steve Rogers impression. This still demonstrates that we’ll see action outside of the space combat format, which is definitely a cool thing.
Finally, UGO has a nice picture of the main Enterprise crew. From left to right are Pavel Chekov (Anton Yelchin), James Kirk, Montgomery Scott (Simon Pegg), Bones McCoy, Sulu and Nyota Uhura (Zoe Saldana).
You can find all these photos at EW.com in addition to a lengthy article about Star Trek, including interviews with J.J. Abrams, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy.
