Back in the days of the Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes stories (in SUPERBOY No. 145) A youth serum from another dimension turned the Kents younger, so they would be closer in age to (presumably) the parents of his readers. IMS, the formula eventually wore off, they aged quickly and passed on soon after. Personally, I've always thought keeping the Kents alive went a long way in grounding Superman, and making him even more of an Earthling, if you will. There were always two people he could talk to and not have to make up some crazy "I've got this friend" type of thing to share his thoughts. They were and are his anchor to humanity.I'm curious to see what Clark's reaction will be, and how similar (or different) will it be from the classic "All these powers…and I couldn't save him" speech from the Movie.I'm also curious to see what will happen to Ma. The farm's toast, her husband's gone…will she move to Metropolis? rebuild the farm and just live in leisure? It'll be interesting. Not major plotline worthy, but I'll be keen to know.

I think the youth serum happen BEFORE Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes during the Frank Robbins Bob Brown (wome inked by Wally Wood) days.

Don't worry, Pa Kent will get better. At DC, death hath no sting.

Was there a version in which the Kents left the farm and moved into smallville, wherethey owned a store or something, or is it just my faulty memory?

    • Rick Taylor says:

I think the version of the Kents you remembered (owning the general store) is pretty much what happened all through the 60's and 70's.
